has anybody else experienced these tempratures?

i dont know if this is completly normal or what, but i got a C2D E6300 1.86GHz, not the top of the range i know but a massive improvment from a Pentium D. As soon as i got it i overclocked it to 2.8GHz, which i know is completly normal for C2Ds, but the strange thing is, it runs at about 25c idle and max of 35c full load, with worse cooling than stock intel C2C cooling, i am using a stock Pentium 4 cooler (without the copper base). is this normal?

I'd use a few different temp monitoring programs like speedfan, everest and coretemp to confirm your temps. At that mild overclock, it may be realistic...MAYBE. It may be a stretch though with the stock cooler.

Sounds perfectly realistic, if not reading too cool.
35c is only 95f, if you are thinking its too cold of a reading, its very possible.
Speedfan and my mainboards own software reads that my chip isn't passing 22-23c.

My e6750 @ 3600 will peak about 45 and thats with a AC Freezer and AS5 with really good circulation.

Coretemp seems to be able to read everything I have put it on correctly, while I have seen many other programs read incorrectly.

Those chips run very cool and oc very well with not too much voltage increase in many instances. Results may vary, but it will hit 3.0 easily! I could hit 3.36 (480fsb) w/stock vcore (1.32) and have load temps in the mid-40's and idle in the low 20's. I have mine OC'd to 3.5 (500fsb, 1.35vcore). Go get a cheap AC Freezer 7 Pro w/MX-1 (pre-applied) or AS 5, and you'll be good to go! (See my system specs)

To run 19-20c the room would have to be 55-60 F max. So unless your rooms that cold, odds are your sensors are wrong.

heh.. my e2140 @ 2.8ghz can idle as low as 13C, but thats coz its v cold outside, the rear of my case is nxt to my bedroom window and i have a 120mm fan sucking in chilly air from outside

otherwise with window closed it idles around 16-18C, all on stock cooler.

really surprised at how cool these chips run

id start by checking for an updated bios as this can lead to all kind of missreads from onboard sensors. but all are right it is a very possible temp as c2d runs very cool, especially if your coming from a pentd.

my 4300 runs on 1.42v @3.2ghz 24/7 and idles 28/30c (depending on room temp) hits around 35c under normal use and never goes above 40c during any torture tests.

those temparatures are feasable.. and those readings i took were from core temp, as well as TAT. the air outside is pretty damn cold, but even without the chilled air, the chip still runs pretty damn cold. under load it still gets to 30+ maybe upto 36C at times but on stock cooler thats pretty damn good (coming from an AMD background)

Your BIOS would tell the right temperature.

The C2D has a temperature sensing diode outside the core, it's behind the core, in the central part of the back side. So I'm not very sure how accurate that is. The Smithfield had a thermistor integrated with the core and I can tell for sure, that thing never lied.

You're lucky to be getting those temps, else in an air-conditioned room, OC'ing a E6700 to 3.00 GHz often shot it upto 45~55 C for me.

more or less, you get good temps cause you live in a frozen wasteland. most of us have trouble with temps that low, because our ambient is usually higher (here, ambient is low 30's atm)

Well like I said either a direct cold air flow "from like a window" or its 55-60 in the room...

Anyways all these numbers are VERY possible... I have had core2's as low as 15c on air because of an open window directly behind the case. I have also had them idle as high as 30c in a hot room.
