i was asked to go look at an old dell computer (about 7-8 years old)
the problem is they bought a new printer for it (i dont know what type of printer it is) but they said it wont work on that computer but it does work on the other computer they have that is newer and uses win xp. they also said that the drivers wont load from the cd, they put the cd in and nothing happens. thats all the info they gave me lol.
now i havent got to look at it yet (will look at it in the morning) but the question i have is there any reason the new printer shouldnt run in win98? they were told by a few people the computer was just too old to run the new printer but none of these people are qualified techs just do gooders looking at it. first thing to check is if cd player still works lol.
by the way this is two different offices with seperate computers and files so no shared connections through a network, this must be stand alone computer and printer.
questions:
1) is there any reason a new printer would be unable to run on win98?
2) is it possible the new printers driver cd is just not compatible with the older cd player?
3) assuming its just a driver issue, is there a generic driver i could use to run the printer on win98?
