Want 8,5GB DVD+R

Hey guys.

I wish to get some 8.5GB Disks and iam unsure what I should buy. I found these on komplett and are 8.5gb and write speed 8x.

Iam wondering...These are 1 sided right?? so I can fit 8,5 gigs of data onto 1 side??

I want 1 so I can fit this 1 file thats 7gigs. SO will all that fit onto 1 side??? argh....umm....like...I dont want it to be like...4,7 on 1 side and 4,7 on the other side..I just want 8,5 on 1 side only!!!

iam sure I made myself clear yea??? so...will these do the job?

8.5gb disks are dual layer disks, there is only one write side. So yes they will

Well yeah but make sure your DVD can write dual sided disks...

Ok here is my DVD Rom. Does it say it only supports single layer???

it dont look like it does to me I'd think double layer is dvd-dl.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD+R_DL

edit: yeah it dont, I just checked mine.. humm I should update my firmware lol I have pioneer 212's and one Samsung drive... never seen a point in updating drive firmware or I was always to lazy to bother.. my samsung drive has been acting up though maybe a update will fix it.

Sorry guys...Just noticed this:

The drive also supports writing speeds of 8X for DVD-R, 4X for DVD+RW and DVD-RW, and 2.4X recording speed for Double Layer media.

Is it me...or does that clearly say Double Layer????

It does not support dual layer disc burning.

Edit: Hmmm. Tell me, on teh DVD tray, does it state that it is a DVD-RW DL?

It should but beleive it or not some DVD drives will only read double layers so it may still not write a Double layer disc. Im not completely sure on this though. See if any freinds of yours have a DL disc and ask if you can borrow it, then try to burn your files onto it and see what happens

oh god.....hmm....I really am not gonna spend money of these DL disks...I will wait and save up for some good DVD-RW R9 if thats what I need

DVD9 is Dual-layer, DVD5 is single layer.

It clearly states the Write Speed for DVD+R9 is 2.4X

It IS compatible with Dual-layer and it WILL write them.
