Help on Choosing PSU

hey guys its come to the time where im starting to get worried about the default PSU which came with my comp i always have a feeling it will fry my parts so im deciding to get a new psu
my mobo connector is weird heres a pic

my needs are around , 120mm fan , and a mobo connector suitable for my mobo ( MSI P4M900M2)

heres the list of psu's i have no clue which is suitable for me could u guys help me choose

Thermaltake tough power 600w/750w
gigabyte 400w/800w
coolermaster extreme 500w/550w/600w
coolermaster extreme 650w
coolermaster pro 550w/650w
coolermaster realpower pro 750w/850w
coolermaster realpower modular 520w/620w

or if none In the list is suitable for my mobo could u give me a small list of PSU's i could buy
needs 120mm fan,500-800w, adequate brand, and 20+ seperate 4 pin for my mobo connector thanks

look at the corsair power supplies. buy.com and clubit.com have then for far cheaper than newegg.

+1 on the Corsair. I've also had good results with the Zalmans.

My Cooler Master is making way today for a new Corsair HX620, as it's really noisy and the cables are a pain!

Just go to the review database to check up on what's available. Most psu's still support 20 pin, so let us know your shortlist when you decide.

Yeah all psu's are 20+4 pin, the 4 pin is detachable from the 20 pin and will easily fit your mobo. Sometimes the 4 pin plug is connected to the 20 pin plug usually by a small plastic tag/bit but you cut the small plastic tag/bit and it comes free.
As previously mentioned the corsairs are a very good brand and come with 5 year warranty for peace of mind if your worried about those things.

Yeah the corsairs are nice stable psu's (I owned the HX620). Also consider 600w+ power supplies from Tagan (my current psu), PC Power and Cooling, OCZ and Silverstone.

They actually don't know what you mean.

There is two "four pin" plugs coming out of a modern power supply unit.

One of the four pins is a stand alone plug, specifically for powering your CPU. It has its own retention clip on the side.

The other four pin is a plug that slides on to the end of a 20 pin ATX motherboard connector, therefore turning it into the newer 24 pin ATX motherboard connector.

I have the same P4M900M2 motherboard in one of my other computers. Your motherboard uses the newer 24 pin ATX connector, so its perfectly safe to buy a new power supply.

EDIT: By the way, every single power supply unit you have listed in your first post is suitable for your system. Buy any one you want.

Go for the coolermaster 850w i have one and there a really good PSU never had a problem with it power my system great

That is a no brainer... Corsair 450 or 550 FTW!
(unless you have to have modular than the or 520)

And that seperate 4 pin connector is to help power the CPU.

There is no need at all to be looking at 800 watt PSs unless you are planning tu be running 3750 X2s or 8800Ultras in SLI

I love my Cooler Master Real Power 750, Its a great PSU and It has connections for everything. I could even go quad fire if I wanted to... But if you are needing a simple psu, then go with the Corsair HX620.

well it uses a 20 pin connector with the extra 4pin attatchment left unconnected to anything, then a seperate 4 pin connector with 2 yellow and 2 black wires is connected to power your cpu.

all you should need for a board like that is 400-500 watt psu but go to your profile and fill out your computer specs so we can see what you have when we need to answer any questions you might have. its hard to recommend a power supply for you without knowing your cpu or video card because the power needs of such components do matter most of the time.

in this particular case, unless you have a fairly new video card which im guessing is highly unlikely, then you dont need much power.

also are you sure you need a new psu? just asking what happened to make you think you need one?

Okay, filled out my system specs

reason for getting new psu is i'm afraid of my psu just playing up on me one day and just catching on fire , and i don't think the build quality is that great and its just another psu which came with the case.

I don't know but sometimes i get random bluescreens im not sure if its the PSU or whatnot

but the main bluescreen i get is the IRQ not less or equal or either USB_port error

im getting my logitech z5500's soon ,so the psu will come in within 3 or 4 months and im also going to get a high end card in the future and maybe a PSU which could future proof me?

better safe than sorry, the PS is the backbone of the computer. Look online as well for reviews of quality PSs..

seems cheap and has great build quality

i could go with the corsair but the shipping will cost me well over 60 dollars because of its weight .

where as i know a local store selling the coolermaster for just $ 157 AUD

PCP&C are way overpriced. I would go with the Cooler Master simply because of the much better cost/performance ratio. My 750 watt is probably the best buy that I've made in the past year. It is extremely stable.

I love Corsair Power Supplies for Med Wattage Systems and Thermaltake for Higher. Corsair 620HX comes with a good warranty, de-rating curve, modular cables and of course the rubycon 105' rated capacitor which PCP&C and Seasonic PSU don't even use, this power supply was built to take a beating.

1st look at the specs on ps.. see what the 12volt-?amps are 15amp to 20amps most are
depending on your videocard. look at specs on it example.. say you have a old AGP card say 7800 GS 256 mb's here's wat one of specs say "A minimum 400W system power supply (with 12V current rating of 20A or more)" that just example.. most cards are say BFG NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS EE OC 640MB PCIe "425W ATX 2.2 or greater system power supply with a combined 12V current rating of 28A or more (Minimum system power requirement) see check this out this only a bfgtech 650 watt ps the 12volt rails running 20amps oh yea not bad here link http://www.bfgtech.com/bfgr650wpsu.aspx

coolermaster realpower pro 650watt

or the corsair 620watt modular i done some intensive research and found that both product uses high quality products, quiet fan,

one downside is the coolermaster isnt modular but the corsair is should i go with the coolermaster or the corsair??
