Hey folks - I have been thinking about getting a new/spare mouse for a while as I usually use my Logitech G7 with my laptop when my pc is not in use

& as i already got a mouse for standard use. i need one for mainly gaming which leaves me at a problem......

Being an avid Logitech fan - 1 option is the Logitech G9

my Next choice is the new Saitek Cyborg PM42 Gaming Mouse

Cosmetics wise - the G9 compare to saitek looks so god awfuly bland & Plain so im more leaning towards the saitek mose because I love the styling (I love to showboat)

Im not to sure if any of you non Euro friends have the saitek in stock at your retailers yet

so the question is....

Which mouse?

Don't know how Saitek is on the support/RMA side, but Logitech would be my choice on that basis alone (had great experience with my G7). But have to agree, the Cyborg looks much better than the G9.

I had a Saitek "Gamer" mouse and the buttons were totally horrible. Maybe that changed by now, but i wouldnt bet on it.

The g9 is almost flawless, although i think that the dpi buttons should be placed a littel more towards the mousewheel, for easier access. The wheel itself can be pressed to the left or right for additional 2 buttons, just in case you dont know.

I would agree with what was said above.
Go with neither as both look very uncomfortable and button placement is not optimal.
The G5 is a great mouse and in most cases less expensive

Yeah the g5 is the greatest gaming mouse ever in my view the g9 for what was on offer.

I love Saitek in everything BUT their mice. I just don't like the feel of them, admittedly I haven't tried the Cyborg, but I don't want to either.

I currently have the G5 (2007 refresh version - the blue one) and it's the best mouse I've had. I've tried the G9, but compared to the G5 it's horrible in my opinion.

Razor Diamondback 3G coz it has a 1800dpi 3g sensor, it has customisable buttons, after a while fits your hand PERFECT, on the fly sensitivity, CHEAP PRICE, feels like rubber for a good grip, glides across surfaces from plain desk wood to all mats, can macro any button, the left buttons are great, only the right bottom is usable and mostly i set it for the on the fly setting, left and right handed, nice colours and style oha nd windows button 4 and 5 can be set which is better than macro as you have to choose a key for macro.

Satiek is to wacked out and dosnt look like a mouse and the G9 is too chunky.

Trust me razor is the best mice available in the planet not only that they are cheapo.

Try and get a 3g version of their mice tho.

I prefer traditional looking mice with a good feel and buttons i will actually use.

I mean if you combo a good mice with a good keyboard its way better.

I use the customisable buttons for quick stuff like scroll wheel for weapon change scroll button for grenade or crysis suit mode side buttons for quick reloading and melee essential for gear of war and COD 4.

Mouse buttons are just for quickness not to replace a keyboard.

EDIT: Found the TPU! review of the diamondback 3g http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Razer/Diamondback3G

Go for the Logitech. I had the Saitek mouse, and I think you would be so much happier with the G9 instead. The saitek mouse was too much "plastic", and had stuff I didn't really need.
Lucky I could "test run" it for 14 days, gave it back the day after.

Now I use my Razer instead. But since you wanted to know which one of the mentioned ones to choose from - Go Logitech, it's way better (atleast Logitech knows how a mouse should be..)

thanks everyone for your responces - sadly im not too keen on the Razor mouses :S they just look to plain & Keiran it 'fits my hand perfect?' i could have huge hands which might make my hands look like a hippomaking love to a mouse :D ive seen a few of the razor mouses around & cheap as they certainly are i just dont like the shape.

as to the coment that they are to 'plastic' I will have a look when my local shop manages to get them stocked - but im leaning heavily towards the saitek if it fits my hand

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Logitech mice.
True, the shape is "odd" on some of them (Boomslang...aah memories).

But whatever you do, do not buy the Saitek mouse!

Razer Deathadder..

wat does it matter how they look? its how they perform while gaming that counts,

i wouldnt touch a Saitek mouse if i was given it free tbh, they simply are not gamers mice .no matter wat Saitek themselves say.

Razor or Logitech are the only serious choices if u want a proper gaming mouse.

forget ugly, wear and tear is an issue with me I don't like buying mice and have them die 3 months later which seems to be a pattern with Razer Mice and Headset. if your a big boy you might want to look at the Microsoft Habu and Sidewinder.

that is true, i have never had one logitech mouse die on me, have had my mx518 going on a year and a half now and it works like new, in fact that is probably the oldest component related to my comp now

I bought a Logitech MX700 Duo back in 2003. Still works today, although I think the mouse's transmitter is starting to show its age.

in the last 3 yrs ive had 2 Razor mice ,the Diamondback and now the Deathadder, both still work fine ,so where you get the impression they are poorly made i have no idea.

maybe you were just unlucky but imho Razor is one of the best quality mice u can buy (along with the higher end Logis ofc)
