Cheap gaming rig for my buddy

I built one for my other friend a week ago and I keep getting more of my friends into PC gaming :rockout:

Hes gonna sell his 360 and all his games for 650$ to some guy on craigslist so he told me to put a computer together with 50$ to spare to for the Orange Box and I put this together, just make suggestions and help me make it better

Yea, it's definitely a performance increase from the 8800GT, but you need a high-res monitor to take advantage of it so the 9600GT is fine. If you want to spice things up for overclocking (I'm assuming since you're buying a cooler), then spend an extra 10 bucks to either go with a 5000+ BE or an Intel P35 + e2xx0 combo. Both once overclocked will be faster than that 5400+.

That;s, what I thought too, but on my highest clocks with both cards, I consistently came up 1000 pts. higher on the 8800GT.

I would get the ati card=better quality and drivers, and comes with 3dmark advanced and a free game!! also that psu seems shoddy just because it's stamped with corsair doesn't make it good.

Phil, I agree with you to a point on the ATi card. I bet anything HD3850 or above would be nice enough tho.

I don't agre with you on Corsair tho, the PSU would work just fine.
