I have an MSI 9600GT on the way (the version on the bottom... seems to be a reference heatsink, not the platic red one) and I intend on pulling off the stock heatsink and watercooling. In advance of receiving it I wanted to be ready for the watercooling setup so I wanted to get RAM heatsinks and possibly heatsinks for some of the power components. I plan on using a Danger Den Maze 4 GPU block.

I was planning on just getting some Zalman memory heatsinks as per the attached photo for the memory. Could I just use some of the extras on the necessary power components? I circled (well actually I "rectangled") the area of concern.

Questions:

1) I am assuming that the stock heatsink cools not only the memory but some power components. Can anyone verify if that is true?
2) Do you think that the Zalman heatsinks would be OK for the power components?
2) If so, which particular components do you recommend have heatsinks?

Thanks :respect:

So mase5

And pick up some of their ram blocks.....just like the zalmans.

Your not going to overclock them memory a ton with them, but you only should really care about the core.

Or you could just find a full coverage waterblock and not worry about all of that.

yes it cools the power components which are the VRM's if i am not mistaken.

I think they would be alright if you dont intend to overclock.. If you do want to overclock and it locks up or temps are too high on the VRM's try pointing a small 40MM fan on them.. Works well.

Otherwise nice buy :)

Thanks. OK. Dumb question... Which are the VRM's? VRM = Voltage Regulator Module right?

Doing this on a budget (so what else is new :)

So I picked up a used Maze4 from someone on this group. From what I hear the Maze4 is similar to the Maze5 in performance and I don't think the G94 chip runs that hot anyways.
