Hi all lately i been having a weird issue.
is been a while since i O/C my system ( set it back to default for a while)
now i decide to OC it again with the new BIO update from evga P32
I have Evga 680I SLI board A1 with Q6600 ( see my system spec)

my BIOS system monitor temp always shows average 10C higher then Core temp or Real temp software.

for example if the Bios System monitor shows 48C but Coretemp will show as 38C while real temp show as 32-35 few point lower then Core temp as always...

how come the differents is so big between bios and window environment software?

and which one should I belive in accuracy?

Please help Thanks!

I would trust Coretemp. My coretemp agrees with speedfan which agrees with realtemp which is very close to Intel TAT. My ASUS P5K-E motherboard reports some goofy "CPU" temp which is higher than the cores. Not sure if they are trying to extrapolate to the "case" temperature (i.e. the Integrated Heat Spreader IHS temp). Whatever they are doing it seems to be a useless temperature. The only thing it gets used for is AUS Qfan which can control CPU fan based on temperature.

Temperature of the cores is the important one. Also called Tj where j=junction which is the temperature of the silicon itself at the hottest point. Depending on the chip this would be ~85C max. Try to keep it less than 60C for long term reliability however.

See my screenshot below to see what I'm talking about. This is on water.
