what CPU will overclock higher?

I am looking for an AMD CPU to replace my X2 4600+ (it shit its self) I can spend $100 on a CPU and i want something that will get 3+ghz check my specs so you know what im using if that will help.

I was looking at the following:

With the unlocked multiplier, the 5000+ BE is your chip.

Yeah go for the 5000+ BE, I've get 3ghz on air. But with water you can get up to 3.4ghz.

i'd get a 5000 black edition. currently have mine stacked naked underneath an ultra120 extreme, idles at 28 load's at 40c tops and went to 3.0Ghz on stock voltage, and hit 3.5 @ 1.475. If my mem would do the work i could probably be stable at about 3.58 or so. but 3.45 is plenty, this chip will not dissappoint you.

nope. never would i get an ECS board. I like my Gigabyte haven't had a problem other then the chipset running hot.

Good choice on the 5K BE. If you already ordered it and using it never mind. I bought a OEM 5600+ and it rules.

The above is retail, but just give an idea. The 1MB cache per core really helps. And it runs decent cool too. Check my sig for the current speed. I hit 3.45 once. booted into windows but was not stable. Currently at 3.25Ghz @ 1.4V. It goes to 58/55C on both cores with full load using the Antec sh.. But i might change it to AS5 or MX-2 later. The 5K BE at the same speed will be tad slower in most applications.

Just my 2 cents.
