What in my PC would you upgrade to. I would like some suggestions and what you think is a good opinion to pick. Another thing is that if its the CPU, it can only be 65nm. I only game and go on the internet on photoshop or benchmarks(besides FRAPS). And lets say the budget is $600. My PC is in my system specs tab. I also don't OC.

I would get a 8800gts 512mb, you can get one for 170-180 after MIR on newegg.

I would fix this problem first :rockout:

Lol, well I would say that too...

But if you don't overclock get a processor and a video card.
E7200, E6750, E8400, something in there so you don't bottleneck your 8800GT real hard.

I would clock that chip to 3ghz or so and get an 8800GT, you would be amazed by what you pickup for speed.

either an E8400 or possibly a quad core - dont know what american prices are, then an 8800GT or 9600GT dependant on prices.

65nm only. E6850 would fit the bill.

Quads are a waste for gaming and general use, and will be for some time yet.

An E8400. That EVGA board supports Wolfdale with a BIOS update. Besides, E8400 and E6850 are priced nearly the same in some places.

In that case E8400 or E8500 is your best bet.:)

I'd try to squeeze in two 8800 GS cards for SLI.

Ahem, I'm 'ideating' as IBM puts it

cant be bad to future proof though? :ohwell:

Erocker is right in that case an e8400/e8500 is still a better bet...

By the time games are taking full advantage of Quads and the performance differences are worth it, Quads will be the normal processor, and Octo's or more will be the top thing.

Also that part being the midline will blow away the top line of today.
Look at an e6300 vs a P4 EE 3.4, absolutely no comparrison.
Same thing will happen again in a few years, or sooner.

point taken - an E8400 looks the best option then

You don't OC then buy an E7200 OEM with the stock cooler and ur fine. And you game so get a 8800 GT or 8800 GTS 512 G92.

EVERYTHING! Lol I'd probably start with the graphics card, go with something like a HD3870 or an 8800GT or something equivalent. I wouldn't bother upgrading the processor unless you wanted quad core because you don't overclock it's basically pointless.

It would be a waste to get a 8800 gt or 3870 with out upgrading CPU cuz since he doesn't overclock this will make it a bottlenecked system. :slap:

When is the last time you tried to play a high end game with a high end graphics card on a e4*** chip?

I'll tell ya something, it doesn't go over very well..

and like stated, hes only surfing the net and gaming, so a mid - high level dual core would be spot on.

Yea, for 600 bucks you can do a complete overhaul. Grab a DVD-RW drive, they're so cheap there's no reason not to have one. 8800GTS 512 and an e8400 would give you a huge performance boost, but if for some reason the evga 680 doesn't work with the Wolfdale, sell it and grab a P35. Then to finish out get a Samsung F1 750GB at zipzoomfly for $110 bucks.

680i do work with E8400/45nm chips. It just needs a newer bios update to be compatible. I still suggest getting a E7200. Price beats all dual cores and overclocking.

If i upgrade my CPU i will have to take the mobo out. Should i put it on a wooden table? if so, can it be any kind of wood?. But then again there is nothing underneath the mobo to comfort it. Also do you guys think i should upgrade both at the same time? I am thinking about getting a E6850 and maybe a 9600 GT.
