If no overclocking i'd say the 4800 x2 IF you can find one. You might even have a hard time getting one secondhand. If overclocking stay away from Manchester core there highest typically is around 2.5 \ 2.6. Mines 2.4 100% stable.

any Toledo core 939 is pretty much a down clocked fx-60 minus the unlocked multiplier.

I would say 939 X2 can handle (because my s754 3200 handled well), but up your memory to 2GB atleast to see real performance gains.

Well i should of stayed with my 3800 x2 as it just as good as this system. Really i should of just got a better v card then i would of seen a better boost. It played stalker\fear v very well.

Don't get me wrong this system i am using now is some what smoother but it's all that lol. Get another gig of ram that some one suggested too.

Would of saved me some thing like $400 too lol.

Get some more memory, get a better graphic card, and get a better psu. This upgrade (if you shop around) could be under $100 after MIR.

Get a 3800 on Ebay for $45 shipped. The 939 platform isn't worth spending more than that on. I got my 3800 to 2.5ghz with a 1:1 memory ratio. Unfortunately, I'm not entirely sure if it's completely stable and games which require a ton of physics like UT3 and PVK II run really slowly even with my upgraded video card. Bottom line, spend $45 max. If you have to spend more, just upgrade the whole platform.

i still am using the opteron 180 that is 2.4 at stock. i overclocked it to 2.65 without slowing down the ram. good stuff but it will cost you over $100.

Memoryc are good for ddr1 as its hard to come by now for a good kit but it aint cheap i have the OCZ platinum kit and very happy with it although i didnt get it from memoryc, also microdirect carry ocz kits and at £60 for 2GB its pretty cheap and for processors 2nd hand is about ur best bet but if u find any let me know lol.
