Q6600 build

Ok my friend is looking to upgrade his pc and its centred on the Q6600 and I was picking the mobo and I thought is this one good enough, for maybe a small oc and sli. Not looking for the most expensive or the best performing but will it work http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139415 cheers :toast:

Any suggestions on a gpu, 8800GT versus a 3870 both similarly priced.

8800GT is more power efficient than the 3870. But I think the 3870 beats it just slightly. Not too sure.

FWIW, I absolutely love my 8800GT and as soon as I get the funds, im getting a second one.

Looks like I lied. Seems the 8800GT is the winner over the 3870. It does better by about half in WiC (since your hooked on that game

) so the GT might be the choice for you.

For a mobo, I reccommend the EVGA 680i A1. This has never let me down. I hear OCing goes well, and is breed to SLi.

As for a GPU. The 8800GT is great. No problems at all. For some reason though, I am more inclined to get a 8800GTS G92 chip. Cooling I hear is better, it is clocked a bit better, and the duel slot cooler make airflow nicer in your case. All the 8800, GTX and higher are nice. Personally, if you are gaming, you won't notice too much different. The newer GTS being duels slot won;t whine at high fan speeds like its GT little brother.

Also, go with EVGA. Not only do your GPU and Mobo share the company, but they are great brands, and tech support is "out of this world" great. I told someone else that thit alone is very overlooked when shopping for parts. (oh, and lifetime warrenty. LIFETIME!!! Just immediately register your stuff when you get it)

also it supports SLI on 2 8x slots, or a single card in the 16x slot. You can use SLI in the 8x's
and another non-video card in the 16x (such as one of the new PCI-E soundcards, TV tuner etc)
