Fallout 3 refused classification in Australia
Bethesda's forthcoming Fallout 3 has been refused classification in Australia.

An RC rating by the Office of Film and Literature Classification effectively means the game is banned from sale in the region.

Many publishers have fallen foul of the strict classification system in Australia which does not grant games a rating above 15+, but allows movies to receive 18+ ratings.

Most recently, D3P's Dark Sector was finally cleared for sale in the region after receiving a series of cuts to content.

Fallout 3 is the latest title from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion team Bethesda, due for release this autumn.

Yep unfortuently this all to familiar here in Oz Soldier of fortune payback was another one that springs to mind. All that acheived was plenty of us ordering from the states or dl pirated copies didnt really stop many from playing the game. For fallout 3 to be released here it will need to be cut to pieces bah :/.

In britain,the board of censors are all old fogeys who decide they dont like something,so therefore i wont like it.I think there should be no censors but more rigid markings on games etc.

Rest assured, that the US will allow with open arms this game... but with lots of news coverage and getting parents enraged along the way.

And things like these are going to make more people DL the pirated copies without the cut-out content. Damn if you are going to sell a game sell it with the same content everywhere.....Oh and yeah those people at where they re-distribute the licenses are out of their minds....why??? well think of it this way... .They can let a movie such as "28 Weeks later" out on the shelves but not a game like "Fallout". Are you seriously kidding me.....

Which reminds me to ask the Australians here (if any)...... Do you guys buy off from Steam and is the content different or the same everywhere. (meaning location)

im a aussie, i dont know about the steam content, but its a very good question, somthing i would like to know as well, but i haent heard of it being different (i would assume it it was there would ahve been a up roar already)

but it is kinkda stupid not allowing 18+ games when if you are over 18 you can buy grog/ smokes/ pron, so why not a video game, its not like if kids dont want this stuff bad enough they cant get it anyway, where are the parrents i ask, dont punnish us oldies (over 18 ppl)

im going on a bit of a rant here but it just makes no sence to me, a moive now days have more violence/ language in it then 99% of games, hell even if they just stick these games in a porn shop id still go in there and buy it, it would one way of sure stopping the kiddies of getting a hold of it

hows fallout 3 over 18, it aint like your going to be making out with zombie-mutants, i think the only recent game that deserves over 18 is the witcher because it actually had sex, drugs and violence

amen to that the US accepts everything and then soccer moms elite step up and start calling foul cause jimmy just pulled a columbine at his middle school BECAUSE his mom was too stupid to read the "M" logo on the game and teach jimmy that tv and movies arent real life.

Hi im patty perks alot and i just seriously F$%6kd up my childs perception of reality so what do i do other than admit my own fault? bake spome brownies for all the children on the block talk to all the other moms who bake brownies just like me...start a petition and get a bill banning video games passed...Go TEAM!

You are completely right. The bad part is that the US people are giving too much power to the government to play as "big-brother" which in the end is going to really screw us up bigtime.

I say that government should never be allowed to intervene in Family matters EVER...or how to raise your kids.

You don't interact with movies like you do games. You don't often spend hours upon hours, days upon days or months upon months watching a movie over and over.

Yep there are differences with even the odd game available in the us not available to us on steam Assasins creed is one that comes to mind.

Lol i just read from ign that fallout 3 wasnt banned because of the blood and gore it was because of the use of morphine in the game lame.
