Alright, I got a budget of lets say $500. I can push for $570. And $150 of that is a Tigerdirect gift card. I need a new cpu, mobo, and gpu.

The thing is I do alot of video editing, and alot of gaming. I know video, quads are better, and games dual is better.

I've been looking at the Q6600/Q6700 and the E7200/E8400. Got no mobo prefrence. Anything that basically works fine. I don't think I'll be overclocking unless I can afford an oc-able mobo.

And as for graphics, I want either an HD4850, 8800GT, or a 9800GTX, which ever is better. I have found them all at $199.

I can't choose what to get. Any suggestions? Thanks guys

btw, that BloodIron is a extrememly good OC'ing motherboard, bio's can be alittle complicated when it comes to OC'ing(you'll have plenty of time to figure them out though).

I say the Blood Iron and the E7200 if you are a gamer...that will leave you open to alot of GPU's.

Of course I may be a bit biased on that advice, but its still good advice all the same!

Basically its like ~$130 for the E7200 and ~$130 for the Blood Iron. Thats only half the budget. My E7200 does 4.0GHz with no issues, allowing whatever GPU you purchase to open right up and perform at its best. Not that a quad at 3.6GHz wont!

I dont have first hand experience with a quad, but I do hear that it is much better suited for editing. I seem to have missed that part in the original post. Maybe the quad is a better option!

Also that ram will most likely be the bottleneck to you getting a really good OC, unless it clocks really well. Just my 2 pennies there.

E7200 for sure....quad core is nice and id reccomend it...but with a good ocing mobo...if you wanted to go cheap hell id get the P5nE sli i have one its old but supports 45nm and is a good ocr...it would most deff be within your budget and most E7200's hit 4Ghz+ thats fine for gaming

nobody takes a 9800GTX when the 4850 costs less and is faster, and it hasnt even been milked yet (as in driver improvments comapred to many months old 9800gtx!)
4850 also uses less power, smaller cooler, proper HD options like hdmi with audio upto 7.1 Lossless LPCM!, the UVD2 engine can decode two highdef 1080p steams at the same time
the heat is no worry you can turn on the fan (easy fix just look here http://nwgat.wordpress.com/2008/06/30/ati-radeon-hd-4870-4850-fanfix/ )

and meybe a P35/P45 or X38/X48 board, solaris

I'm still debating between e7200 and q6600. from what I hear, its a fight between wether I like to game more, or edit videos. Am I right?

it isn't a fight like that, it's more like the Q6600 will multi task much better, will use photoshop better, it will encode and play movies better,.
the only thing you will gain from a e7200 is a less capable CPU and a itch to get the Q6600 asap...

So it's a NO Brainer.... it will even game better, i learned a long time ago, spend the few extra dollars and get something good, rather then getting something which you will always be questioning why you got it and you will have learned the lesson i did many years ago.

the Q6600 is a monster and has been the best chip out there for a very long time. the E7200 is a underclocked, under supplied L2cache CPU for people on a tight budget, but now the Q6600 has dropped enought that you can gt it for a few more dollars the the budget model!

Thats one of the funiest things Ive heard in a long time. I agree its better in some applications, but I have yet to bog this CPU with mutlitasking. Oh and I have yet to get an itch to buy a quad....maybe when its supported with better games and the like, but yeah , not even a tingle of want for a quad!

I dont know if the E7200 is for a tight budget, in the OC realm its a smart buy! Isnt that the point when OC'ing?

I say it's better if doing a budget. If no budget and can go the $200 for a cpu, then Q6600 or e8400 is the way to go IMHO.

Hey no problem sneeky peet, with less cores and less L2cache that does make a difference, but it depends on what you are doing. I do programming, grafix, video and gaming, my system drives 4 monitors so i have seen what an underpowered chip can do, and let me say, i wasn't laughing.

I think the E7200 has it's place, like the hyndi, the mobile home and of course Mcdonalds, it always helps in a pinch when you kinda low on funds to get something, but i think he makes a smarter decision to get the Q6600/E8400, but I still think the Q6600,

Actually there is a guy selling Q6700 - go stepping with a 10 multi that I got one of them and love it! that was 200 +13 shipping. I see he have about 5 of them up there now on the bay....

I wouldn't say better I would say just as good. No offense to peet but he's a little biased towards the BloodIron. I am too but I was thinking for budget reasons, you could get a quad with a Biostar P45 board for same price as the BloodIron with an e7200 going by my proposition.

Agreed as posted ,I am biased on the mobo, but by all means if you can get a good board with a newer chipset , by all means do so!
