Good air cooling will work better imo then any water cooling setup in your price range. So unless you are just looking to have fun setting it all up; I would just go air. I've been using water cooling for about 5 years now and its been alot of trial and error getting everything working like I want it to. I enjoy modifing cases to fit it all inside ;)

I agree,
at $150 a direct-touch heatsink like the xigmateck with a high CPM fan will work WONDERS better than a WC setup at that price range and prob. would be a little cheaper too.

That COOLIT is probably his best choice though if he wants to try it. Probably will cool his cpu better than the Xigmatek.

you could never go wrong with a good old Thermalright Ultra 120. Water cooling is cool and all, but if I didn't build the system myself, I wouldn't want to use it. There's too much of this prepackaged stuff now days

For $156.95 This setup here comes with everything you need, minus distilled water and will cool your quad better than any air cooler.

I am afraid this route you suggest will not work. See, i live in south Texas in an old house that does not have central air conditioning. The olny thing the air cooling pushes around, is hot air. For example, today it was 104 degrees. See now why i am going with liquid?

Just so you know, the laws of physics dictates,
that even with watercooling you can not get lower than ambient temperature if you use a fan cooled radiator.

A) Don't use TEC

B) Don't buy a built system

If you can find a case that has a built in radiator, with tubing and a pump, then that's a bit of a start. They won't be TOP quality, but it will cut out some of the hassle for a first time builder.

Either way, the best thing to do is build it piece by piece.

I guess that makes sense..so your saying i can't go any lower than the temp in the room..which is usually 95-100 degrees? Which would be in itself a dramatic improvement in temps for me. 100F is 37C, and right now at idle i am getting 132F/55C and 154F/66C at full load. So...IF i can only get back to ambient air temps..I'll be more than happy.

For a first time WC set-up, take a look at the Swiftech h2o-220 compact.

It's in your price range and pretty simple to install. Double the radiator of the other links you posted. Keeps my E8400 at 57c in my folding rig 24/7. Some cases(NZXT Tempest) come already fitted to accept the MCR220 radiator in the top of the case...;)

+1, a great kit!

You sir, are a very good water cooling candidate. It's load temps that are the most important.

I agree sir, and i will be buying the kit that you said i should get. I have noticed, and no disrespect to others, but your advice has always been consistantly the best. Thank you!
