Hey guys,

Just putting together my new system and was wondering what PSU to go for?

Case: Antec 900 5 LED Fans
GFX Card: BFG 9800 GTX+ OC
CPU: Intel E6600 C2D 2.40Ghz
HDD: WD 5000AAKS 7200RPM (500GB)
Motherboard: Asus P5Q Pro
PSU: ???

I have been looking at the Seasonic M12 and the BFG PSU but i would like something a bit cheaper and reliable, capable of powering this system and leaving room for a future upgrade. Was wondering what you guys would recommend or know of to be worth the price?

Thanks in advance!

Look at the Corsair series if its an option to you. Also with the 900 get a PSU with as long of cables as possible due to placement of the PSU being at the bottom!

My OCZ works wonders too, but I think the Corsairs can be had for a little less loot!

Yes your right, the Antec 900 is a pain in the ass when it comes to cable management! I'll keep that in mind. I'm assuming you'd recommend the Corsair for that problem too?

Both look overkill for your setup, a Corsair HX520 is more than adequate: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/114945

Hey Btarunr. While the 520W is tempting, that's a downgrade from my Hiper Type-R 580W surely? Also, how are Corsair for reliability and stability? I never considered them a 'good' PSU manufacturer, although i have never owned a Corsair PSU.

What do you make of this PSU? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-008-CS

Thanks all for your input so far.

Check cable length against the OCZ Game Extreme PSU's. Never owned the Corsair personally, but my friend has one in his 1200. His only complaint was the lenght of the 8 pin CPU plug! Everything else he says is long enough.

When Corsair says "520W", they mean as good as a 650W PSU from other brands. For example, the VX450W is as good as a 520W generic PSU. But your Hiper looks good enough for this system anyway. You really wouldn't need a 700W ~ 900W box unless you choose a SLI board and keep the option of going SLI in the future open.

Corsair PSUs are made by Seasonic, that is a great power supply manufacturer. Their power supplies are great, are very silent, their voltage rails are very stable and it's made with well-known Japanese components.

Sorry, forgot to mention that my Hiper is also on its way out - 'Bizzzzzzzzz Weeeeeeeeeeep' noises all day long. Hence new PSU for myself, and one for a whole new system im building for someone. I'm hoping to mirror our systems to reduce the amount of separate issues.
