I would go with a samsung 2232, is much better and around the same price.

I would also say check out the Samsungs as I love mine. LG is alright too but I've never been a fan of Goldstar.

the 2253 is a fine screen. the 225BW has a rep for being a little better, but the 2253 is cheaper.

the LG has 3 times the ratio 3000 to1 the Samsung only 1000 to 1

the contrast ratio thing (1000:1 vs 3000:1) is marketing BS anyway, as the 3000:1 is achieved via dynamic contrast - its not real contrast nor does it look as good. (there's options to turn it off)

I would say that it would be great. LG is a great brand, VERY good quality. The specs on it destroy my Acer 22". 2ms response time is INSANE.

I used to have an LG 17 inch and now i have a 20" samsung sync master 204B and I will soon be upgrading to a 22inch wide screen, I think the LG monitors are great, Samsung may be better its more expensive, I think it all comes down to personal preference.

Get the LG!

I have the same monitor, the new ones have a 5000:1 contrast ratio.

The LG has a better Viewing Angle than the Samsung and in my opinion a much better buy!

Get the LG, you won't be sorry. :)

sigh, there are no contrast ratios above 1000:1. Its all dynamic contrast crap which isnt comparable.

Better viewing angles are a valid point, however.

LG uses Phillips panels.

I have an LG 226WTQ 22" 1680x1050 with 3000:1 contrast (up to 5000:1 with DLC) and 2ms response time. Wait your url just loaded, it's that one! Yes do get it, you won't be sorry. I'm very satisfied with mine.

You're lucky... my husband never buys me pc stuff lol... [Edit: actually he does but I still have to buy them because he doesn't understand about pc's.]

He frequently tells me "get up from that pc or I'll turn the mains off!!"
Now I bought a laptop last month... and he said the same thing... you should see his face when I challenged him to turn the mains off :laugh:

(Lol he's got a point, I'm on my desktop/laptop for looong hours)
