Hi guys, silly question... but I simply need assistance at picking one or the other, you will see a difference in ram/gpu/ and cpu from one to another, they both stay in my budget. Which one will benefit in gaming more? I was here once and mentioned I am running on win xp 32bit OS and a 17 Sharp Lcd" atm. "=====" indicates what parts i swapped.
Thanks.

I would go for the first one,you dont need a 4870 for a 17" monitor, and you can add a second relativley cheap 4850 if you get a bigger monitor, for banging gaming performance.

i agree with tigger tbh - just overclock the nuts off that 7200, or possibly get a Q6600?

Tough choice, but If I had to pick one, I'd go for the first one. Are they the only choices?

Otherwise give us your budget and we'll see what we can do... ;)

I say bump back to 2 gig ram in the first setup and get the 4870 since you're only running a 32 bit OS.

If he sticks with the first one,he has the option of a seond 4850 and xp/vista 64bit.Theres not much point having a 4870 with a 17" monitor.

Some would argue the 4850 isn't worth it at 17" either....;)

Wow, quick feedback Thanks... :) But yeah like i say im gaming on a 17" right now and 32bit os, that will probably be replaced by christmas time. So far looks like I will stick to the first setup like most of you confirmed.

And to Alexp999, I am on a $950-1050 budget with taxes included from this site only
www.pccanda.com ... I am buying my parts in-store also to avoid all other s&h taxes, so If you want to browse that site around and perhaps find something better, be my guest

get the 1st build

btw, 700 watts is extreme over-kill for either of those systems unless you plan on adding another gfx card

I plan on adding another 4850 when the time is right, could a 600w Ocz gamexstream handle that if i crossfired ? The 700w was a "just incase", I dont know how much power these cards need, so i figured the higher the better.

For the difference in price (based on my experience) just get the 700W. Unless a 600W is significantly cheaper (cus a 600w will power two 4850's if its a good brand)

Get the corsair 650 is the price is close enough to that ocz,That will be easily enough, and reliable/quiet too.

+1 on that, I have that PSU, its a great PSU.

the corsair tx650 is 10 bucks less than the 700w ocz gamexstream, but has a 5-7 day special order  , Is the gamexstream bad or something ? I see a lot of good reviews on it on a lot of different sites. Or are you guys just simply basing them on a comparison together?

Well IMO the corsair is worth the wait. Its made by Seasonic, one of/if not the best PSU MF's in the world. Backed by a 5 year warranty, and they are always getting recommended on the forums (hence why I got one), what more could you ask.... oh wait, its cheaper! :D

Just another note, in testing the 650w Corsair, has been able to pump out 700w, thats how good it is. :rockout:

main reason I said to get a smaller PSU was to possibly save some money for you. The OXC is a good PSU, but like already said, a 600 watt PSU would power two 4850. Persoanlly, while there's nothing really wrong with the OCZ psu, I would prefer a corsair or PC power and cooling PSU myself. I would have gotten one of those PSUs over my cooler master if I could have found a corsair or PC power and cooling psu that was compatable with the gx2 when I built this rig.

Sh1t i keep editing sorry guys, so like I said I found a corsair tx650w for $114.99, there is also a pc power and cooling silencer 610w for $109.99 with 20 MIR. Which of those in comparison is better for future CF with my cards? Lol

Get the Corsar 650. Then if you decide to get a more powerful card to crossfire with your okay. Plus it gives you headroom for OCing and capacitor aging (depending on how long you plan to keep the PSU)
Also dont forget, this 650W Corsair is like a 700w compared to other brands. ;)
