Hi all,

I'm planning to upgrade my system. Last night I put a quick list for my next system:
*CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
*CPU Cooler: Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme
*Motherboard: NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI
*RAM: G.SKILL 4GB kit (2GB x 2) DDR3-1600 (PC-12800) CL7-7-7-18
*V.Card: GeForce GTX 260 SLI
*PSU: Silverstone Strider ST1000-NV 1000W Modular ATX12V

A bit of my background, I prefer to build new system that can last for at least 5 years. My current system I build when Athlon 64 (Clawhammer) come out.. can't remember when was that. Since then I just upgrade the graphic card from 4400 to 6600gt because the 4400 died and just replacing whatever parts that died.
Before my current system I was using AMD 700 and Geforce 256 so Im more familiar with AMD system than Intel. I'm kind of lost track of recent hardware. I haven't been following much of the current stuff since I got my current system. So I need advice whats good system to build and prefer to keep it for hopefully another 5 years time  Thanks all.

if you want you build to last another 5 years, I recommend waiting til the end of next month for Intel to release thier bloomfield processors. Starting price for a 2.66 bloomfield CPU is gonna be around $325 and is suppose to be about 20% faster than the $1500 qx9770. The bloomfield cpus will be using a new socket(lga1366) so buying a lga775 socket system now would not be upgradable. The 1366 socket motherboards are gonna be about the same price as the 790i board you looking at getting now.

+1.

Just wait for the new socket, so then your computer will be future proof.

yep, but normally when new architecture come out, I think its better to wait until the bugs to be ironed out first. I will wait until few months after its debut and see from there.

By the way, anyone using Samsung 275T monitor? any opinion on this monitor? I read several reviews from internet but want opinion from end-user. I play game occasionally but I do quite a number photography editing too.

Well I'd upgrade faster if my system wasn't as good as it is now. Honestly, I think my system could "keep up" for easily for another 18 months, but that would cut back on how much I could get for selling it.
