For PX just go for the cheapes m8......there is little or no performance difference in Px based on the cards normal graphics capabilities................just look at the Ageia cards, very slow GPU, even slower memory and usually only 128MB..........IMO aan 8400GS would do fine with 256MB DDR2.

If you really wanted to be safe, I would take the 8500GT option as it has the 128Mbit bus and more shaders, anything above that would be overkill.....or of course, the other option is to sell your main card and get the cheapest GTX260 you can find as the 200 series sees no benefit from a 2nd card as it has CUDA 3.0.

i was thinking the same but with prices like they are its what $10 in difference for a 8600GT vs a 8400GS?

I agree with Tatty_One, better to just sell your existing card and upgrade to a 260GTX!

So GT200 series cards dont need a Geforce physx card cus it has one built in?
Doesnt it take it away from the graphics processing power though?

The latest generation of cards is that powerful, HD48xxx or 2xxGTX either will do it better than some mid range card...

Well that's just wrong, read this test:

edit: and that is all based on that review, I haven't got a newest GeForce to know my self :p

No not at all, it's an architectural thing from what I gather, I for example have tried the 2 card option with my 260GTX and one of my 8800GT's and tested that setup against the single GTX260 in both fluidmark and GRAW2 using Fraps (although you would see an improvement in the frames in GRAW using a 2nd card in SLi but thats just the frames, not the Px), exactly the same and identical results, the card just does not seem to be used, with the G92 you have CUDA 2.0, and 1.0 with G80, obvious then things are different, I am far from being an expert on this so I am just going on my personal findings.....I only ran the test because I had read on a couple of forums where they said there was no 2nd card improvement with the 200 series and I didnt actually beleive it.

Tatty_One: have you tried warmonger, that seemed to get the biggest hit in the guru3d test. Surely if 280GTX benefits from 9600GT, must 260GTX benefit from 8800GT?

Thanks for that, it's very interesting, my point, as I mentioned above, is that even though I personally had clearly enabled both cards in my test, there was absolutely no perforamnce differfence between one card and two, clearly I did not get something right although everything reported both cards functional.

Cheers, I trust more someone here actually doing it than a benchmark from da interweb :)

I could run warmonger fine with just my 8800GT. 1680x1050 and graphics middle (lightning and post high, shaders middle high). Was actually surprised how well it run with all those papers and stuff flying in the air.

I did try it on single card with the 260 at 19xx resolution with max everything at TBH the card struggled at that res with those detail levels, I suppose if I add the GT and it dont struggle then the point is proved.

 Is the phsyX on ATI GPUs dead now?

Ati cards can run the benches and demo's I beleive with the dll fix added but they will only do so in software mode so will take a big hit over NVidia cards in hardware mode, ATi cards, as I understand it cannot actually play Physx enabled games with it enabled though.

To be honest, it's a nice addition and "toy" but currently, it dont mean much, there is so little out there to play I see little point in buying an additional albeit cheapish card at this stage just to play a game (GRAW2) that you may not already have cause it didnt appeal to you in the first place. As more games are released then IMO thats the time to revisit, if you already have an 8 series or above, then the single card would surely see you thru ATM.

But for someone without a 2nd card (I am fortunate I have two 8800GT's as well as the 260), do you think it would be worthwhile to buy a 2nd card just for that one game? At the end of the day, gameplay dont change, just a few visuals.

But for someone without a 2nd card (I am fortunate I have two 8800GT's as well as the 260), do you think it would be worthwhile to buy a 2nd card just for that one game? At the end of the day, gameplay dont change, just a few visuals.

And if the difference is 70 to 90 fps, can you have vsync on, whats the point

I could borrow one of my dad's 8800GTS', but the only 8 series I could afford is a 2nd gen 8400gs.
Other than free ones, only games i have is GRAW 1 + 2. Will have to install em and try out different combos.
Are there any timedemo's or benchmarks for the GRAW games?

Then of course you have to take power draw and the PSU into consideration, adding an 8400/8500/and some 8600's have minimal draw (upto 75W max strait outta the PCI-E mobo slot, no 6 pin connection).

With my rig, adding the GT as the Px card, on top of the 260 which is highly overclocked means I am getting near to my PSU's limits 24/7.....others with lesser PSU's may need to take that into consideration.

Dont think there is a TD/bench with GRAW2 at least.

I totally agree with u but we can buy the less expansive card like the 8400 just to feel something different cause its nice in the very end to play seeing a tornado in UT or the papers flying around its nice to feel the game alive somehow... but i agree with u...
