would this be a good setup?

I am looking to get new hardware to replace my dead AM2 board and dead Xclio PSU. i have been wanting to go intel for sometime now and i HAVEN'T kept up with Intel.

So would the following be a good setup ?
Intel E5200
Asus P5k-pro
500w OCZ PSU
Xigmatek 1283 (already have)
BFG 8800GT OC (already have)
2gb OCZ Reapers 1066 D9s (already have)

so would that give me good performance? Also is the Asus P5k pro good for overclocking? I WILL be ocing the hell out of it.

Nice setup. You already know how I feel about it from our discussion in the "rate my rig" thread. See if you could find a P5B deluxe or a Commando on the dirt cheap secondhand to keep $$ at bay. Unsure if they would support the chip tho. How much for the OCZ psu?

the PSU is like $70 with free S$H from the egg.. the P5k pro DOES support 45nm with BIOS flash i have a Celly D that i can flash it with so thats fine. but does the P5k clock good? I know it has good voltage options

yes it is the one you linked first. I have been looking at the 2nd one but would a 450w power it just as good/better then the ocz

Well, I am thinking quality versus quantity. As you know, you can't really get any better than Corsair PSU's other than PCP&C.

Damn well better with a 12.5X multiplier lol. You only need 320FSB for 4GHZ lol.

I run 24/7 3.9GHZ 1.45 rock stable. I have booted into windows at 4.2GHZ 1.525V, super pi stable. I run an Arctic Freezer Pro 7 with a 45CFM fan on it.

what kind of temps? Also do you think my lapped 1283 can do better on temps?

I beleive temps would be better with the Xigmatek. No offense JC.

None taken. I crank out 38*C idle and 59*C with my freezer. I am quite sure the Xigmatek will do better.

do you think i can get about the same temps i got with my 5kBe?both are 65w chips (right?) If so that would be around 30-34c idle and about 38-42c load. BTW the 1283 is lapped to 2000g

I think that it would run cooler than the AMD chip, nearly all 45nm intel chips do, till you get the volts really cranked. The E5200 does run much cooler than the other 45nm intel chips though, 1.4V really heats an E8400 up, but not this E5200.
