I imagine it would be in between a 4870 and a 4870x2 :)

It should be a great card, the ddr3 seems to act better in powerplay.

Would it be better to get one of these or get another 4850 toxic and CF them together on my P5Q? I will be running a 24 inch at 1920 X 1200. Im thinking that the new 4850 x2 with the 2gig of memory would be better.

It would probably be better not only for the 2 GB memory, but the Intel P-45 chipset limits the graphics card slots to x8 when you add a second card. If you have a X-38 or X-48 equipped motherboard, two 4850's in crossfire is the current bang-for-the-buck performance king.

its 8x 2.0 which is 16x 1.1 so it performs just as good.

Not true. Read this review P-45 vs X-48 at Tweaktown

Here's a quote from the summary page.

The results really do speak for themselves and it’s clear that there is a performance difference between a x16 / x16 configuration which the X48 offers, and the x8/x8 one on the P45.

Same article states that the HD4850 in crossfire is the best value for performance because of cost.

HD4850 in crossfire has a good record for performing in cross fire.

I have a single Toxic HD4850 I'm going to wait and see how the new HD4850x2 performs before jumping ship.

I'm leaning toward adding another HD4850 when the prices come down.

With a single HD4850 and a Intel Q9400 CPU my machine has been able to play every game I have tried.

Benchmarks very well too.
