No. it's not what has us in our current economic situation. It was Clinton's administration that brought this upon us. We flourished when Reagan's policies(trickle down) were still in effect. Do a little more research on this. Clinton screwed this country over. Bush just gets left with the blame.

I'm not saying Bush did a good job. He didn't. But the current economic situation does not rest on his shoulders.

My brother has an international economics degree, trust me I know about economic theory as we discuss it all the time.

Remember Black Monday.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Monday_(1987)

You cannot say a guy did a great job with the economy when inflation went unchecked and the stock market fell.

The worst single day in the stock market was during Reagan, the Black Monday linked above.

Clinton years were great economically. Thats how he got two terms.

To all the religious Christian republicans out there:
There is a saying from the bible that says "you cannot save those who do not want to be saved". The Iraqi population isn't and wasn't ready to be saved.

Wow .. you want to turn this from a possible political flame war into an almost certain religious one ?

Any particular reason for that ?

If you poke that fire then it'll spread. I don't think we want flame wars. ><

Its straight from the bible. "You cannot save those who do not want to be saved" applies to revolutions as I stated before. Its not flames, unless you haven't read it before or don't understand its meaning.

Well then you should already understand that the economic boom during Clinton's administration was not due to what Clinton did, but what previous administrations did. And that economic changes that any administration makes takes years to take full effect, most of the time well after said administration is long gone. History has shown this repeatedly. No need for a degree.

Clinton is exactly who put us where we are today, with the policies he signed into action. Ask anybody that has close ties with any of the struggling banks what caused this.

Having a degree in a field does not make one an expert. ;)

I agree with you about economic cycles but not that Clinton caused our current economic situation. After Reagan it was not Clinton.

Bush Senior was after Reagan and banks were failing at a rate that had never been seen since the great depression with him in office. So are you saying the economy just decided to wait until Clinton entered office to do well. That doesn't make alot of sense.

Its a serious stretch to give Reagan credit for all growth after his term in office and none of the bad repercussions.

Sigh ....

I will answer this once without malice nor a judgemental predisposition as that is not how I am.

I do not know what "revolutions" refers to. Perhaps the the book of Revelation in the Bible?

In a Christian sense, the term "to be saved" has nothing to do with war or any other earthy concept.

Philosophical beliefs are not even remotely close to religious beliefs.

I agree that you are not a religious man. No offense intended.

Revolution and Revelation are two different words. The quote means exactly what it sounds like. The country doesn't want to be helped, so how can we help it? That's what he's trying to get across.

The worst economic days were under Carter . He litterally almost bankrupted the USA. I was in those gas lines. If not for Regan cutting taxes we would not have ever recovered. Trickle down economics works if done correctly. Remember people who making over 300.000 dollars a year in the USA already pay 85% of the USAs taxes and donate about 1/3rd of all the money for social programs(because they half to so they don't pay 95% of all the taxes) What poor person ever gave another person a job.

yep... a degree just means you were in school for a while... I tutor finance while i'm getting my MBA (and by no means can i claim to be a financial expert) ~ just for the record, theories are just that... many times they struggle to fit reality. Professors will even tell you how bogus some theories can be when contrasted to reality.

Like Wile said, the effect of executive policies is obscure and hard to identify in the markets; its definitely there, but there are just so many other forces at play.

I would support Obama because just once, in the next 8 years, i would love to hear a coherent speech.

from a racist remember David Duke spoke well. The man (Obama) surrounds himself with people who are known to hate white people. How could anyone vote for a man who is friends with Lewis Farakan.

I never claimed all credit goes to Reagan. I said his economic policies. Bush Sr. carried on his policies for the most part, and therefore fits in that category.

And saying the the economy "waited" is just an attempt to twist my words, and a poor one at that. The economy doesn't wait, you and I both know that. But economic policies have both short term and long term effects. What we are seeing now, is the long term effects of Clinton's lending policies as far as mortgages and such are concerned, and a few other changes he put into effect.

Well the funny thing about Carter is the fact that he cared about the US, but he wasn't fit to rule. He did very little to blame it on him. But he did almost nothing when we needed him most.

The most feasible argument against Carter was "too little, too late". He was essentially a do nothing president. Not a good president either.
