It makes more sense economically to buy the card that will last longer. I went the same route as you and bought the 5770 from Microcenter before returning it. The performance was shabby, at best. However, with my 5870, I get 80-110 fps with max settings in BFBC2.

How did you buy the card? Most vendors advertise the card to require 600W PS at best. I'm sure they'd honor a warranty if you explained that yours was unsufficient. Who manufactured the card?

Thanks for the help, all. The system appears to be stable. That CPU temperature was after a memory test. It now idles around 40c and maxes to upper 50c s during load.

That temp was after I ran Memcheck for 20 minutes. When I restarted, the temp seemed to idle at 40.
