    Blind flashing hd4870

I've done that before with my 4870's, flashed them with wrong bios because of extraction. Extracted 64KB and flashed that instead of 128KB. I was able to recover the card without any problem. I had my 4870's in crossfire, the only way I was able to recover the bricked 4870 was to flash it in DOS...

    Blind flashing hd4870

Please refer to this thread, this was the only way I could revive a bad flashed 3870 back to life. Take note that this may be dangerous. http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=91611 If this doesn't work for you I have another idea.

    Graphic cards for 3d design

Because the market for such a device is very limited so the price is increased because of the low demand. It's great for rendering 3D animations and videos because it can crunch numbers. Plus the drivers are specifically written to boost performance for CAD/3D processing. The people who do buy...

Hi, need some suggestions for videocard for downgrading

Perra, how do I reduce my GPU clocks and RAM clocks down using ATI Tray Tools? In the overclock options it won't let me go lower than 600 for GPU and 340 for RAM. I try the ATI Overdrive 5 option but it won't set any lower. Any recommendations?

Hi, need some suggestions for videocard for downgrading

Shifting from a 4870 to a 4770 significantly reduces power by 83W. I used http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine to calculate it. If I remove my IDE HDD it reduces my watts even more, apparently IDE drives consume a lot of power according to the calculator. I idle a lot and only game every so...

Hi, need some suggestions for videocard for downgrading

I play at 1600x1050 on a 22" monitor and sometimes at 1920x1200 on my 24" but wil probably stick with 1600x1050 cause it has 120hz. I currently have an ATI 4870 1GB in crossfire but I don't really use crossfire or game as much as I do anymore. I've considered crossing over to the green camp and...

    Diamond 4890 1gb .. component issues

If you have another device to accept component, test that out first, it can help discover if the problem is with your TV or your card. Make sure you try another component cable if you have one, I have a lot of component cables lying around (lots of ATI videocards). But if you asked me, I think...

    warranties and customer service

My top choices in order would be: Asus Visiontek HIS MSI Gigabyte XFX Sapphire Powercolor Diamond Asus is my #1 choice because I never had a problem with it but it also costs a lot more but it's worth it to avoid problems with other partners. Visiontek is very solid in my opinion, I have about...

No Crossfire Tab, No Display (LCD only)

If both of your cards are not flashed to the F24 bios then Crossfire will most likely not pair up. I doubt that the windows software flashed both cards. I don't like to use Windows to bios flash. I used ATIFlash, I suggest booting into DOS prompt and flashing from there using parameters as so...

No Crossfire Tab, No Display (LCD only)

Please try the F24 bios from Gigabtye. After working with Gigabyte Tech-Support for some time they finally gave me a new bios. Check to see if you have Qimonda memory on both cards before flashing. Look in my thread, I have the bios posted there. I still doubt it's your old PSU that is not...

What driver do you recommend for Crossfire 4870?

After long weeks of troubleshooting and working with Gigabyte tech-support I have finally found the answer. It wasn't the OS, it wasn't the PSU, it wasn't my motherboard's bios, and it wasn't the latest Catalyst drivers as I predicted. It was the videocards as I thought. Both of my cards use...
