Acer Aspire Easystore H340 No Power

How would I test the power switch? I tried shorting the pins on the mobo from the front panel's power button to see if that'd trigger anything. But no luck there So I don't have a spare PSU to try so I went online to look. I can't find the Lite-On PSU that my system has anywhere in the US...

Acer Aspire Easystore H340 No Power

So, I turned off my Aspire Easystore H340 last night now it has no power (I know its over 10 years old). No lights, fans, etc when pressing the power button. I took it apart and put back to together cleaning it out. Making sure all the connections are snug and no dust in there. Still nothing...

    Building a Home Server

An Avoton CPU is something I've been looking at. I like the idea of server features in a relativity low price package. Have you used one? Thought it was interesting that NewEgg wasn't sure what NIC the board has: 4 x GbE LAN ports (Intel? I354) Maybe that question mark is a typo?

    Building a Home Server

Thanks for all the replies. Only recently I've been ripping blue-rays to h.265, most are the more compatible h.264 format. I'm also interested in learning/using features like a BMC Controller. I've never really had an opportunity to work with that feature before. The FX-8320 is about $140 on...

    Building a Home Server

I assumed it was a bit overkill, But I wanted something that wouldn't stutter with a few Plex streams going. And would last me a few years (my old server is still rocking Windows Server 2003, but it starting to show its age). 'silentbogo', According to Plex to transcode a 1080P stream they...

    Building a Home Server

I have been looking into building a home server for sometime, and have a question on some parts... Its uses will be running some form of linux (haven't decided yet between Ubtuntu server and Linux Mint and uninstall Cinnamon) as an experimental LAMP stack. It'll also run Samba to share files to...

    Alienware mx15 no power

A friend's Alienware laptop died after getting water spilled on it. Nothing happens when you pressed power. No lights, fans, ect. So I took it apart, and on a gamble replaced the motherboard (can always return it). There is no visible damage to anything but the ribbon connector to the IO board...

    Very slow internet traffic

A company that i work with is having some major internet slowdown issues (takes 5 minutes to load cnn.com, ect.) Behind their router they have a Juniper Firewall. There are two different 'networks' off of the firewall (essentially 2 companies out of the same office). One network seems fine...

    Windows Home Server

So i was thinking of building a WHS. My only goal is store my music, videos, ect. and be able to stream them to my PC. I can't see doing any transcoding or most of the new features that will be released in WHS v2, just streaming from the device. My question, is can i build this w/ a dual...
