AMD Partners Cut Pricing of Radeon RX Vega 56 to Preempt GeForce GTX 1660 Ti

Well current statistics on Mindfactory say over 2200 sold and 4439 people having it on their watch list. I think that's decent.

Battlefield V with RTX Initial Tests: Performance Halved

Many people said "it was to be expected, that RTX effects had a high performance hit". To be honest, I did not. Because those RT cores are just there to process those RTX effects, so I would have expected a few percentage lost for the overhead, but not double digit numbers. To me it looks like...

Anyone remember OCZ brand (not SSDs)?

@FreedomEclipse: I guess it's save to claim that you already had RGB before it was cool :D Nice set of RAMs. Edit: Although actually it is RYG.

Anyone remember OCZ brand (not SSDs)?

My OCZ Vertex 4 with 256Gb has proven very reliable as my main boot drive ever since I bought it in 2012. It actually is still faster than my newer Mushkin Reactor with 1Tb which I got as a game drive, except for sequential r/w.

AMD Ryzen "Pinnacle Ridge" CPUs and X470 Motherboards Open to Pre-orders

Why would it be easier to access usb ports on an ATX board compared to a M-ATX board? The layout of the connectors is identical. I see it like simlariver, most people do not need all those PCI express slots, but still want a full fledged board with all DDR slots, SATA connectors, etc. M-ATX...

AMD Ryzen "Pinnacle Ridge" CPUs and X470 Motherboards Open to Pre-orders

I have been waiting for an upgrade of my trusty old i5 2500k for quite while now and I was totally gonna buy an 2700X on release. But there is not a single M-ATX motherboard out there! There are M-ITX boards from Asrock, Asus and Biostar, but no one cares to make an M-ATX one. I have a nice...

AMD Cancels Implicit Primitive Shader Driver Support

Indeed, I am. That FC5 will be using Rapid Packet Math sounds interesting though.

Major Intel CPU Hardware Vulnerability Found

In other words: If Asus does not publish a BIOS update for my aged Z68 board, I am screwed anyway? Or is it possible to load microcode through windows updates?

Major Intel CPU Hardware Vulnerability Found

Yes, this is probably the biggest problem. According to Google you are safe when you are running Android with the January 2018 security patches installed. I hope Sony keeps up the pace with their updates for my XZ ;)

Major Intel CPU Hardware Vulnerability Found

So Google has just published their research on the matter. Actually there are three kinds of problems which were identified: Variant 1: bounds check bypass Variant 2: branch target injection Variant 3: rogue data cache load Variant 3 is called Meltdown, while 1 and 2 are called Spectre. From...

Major Intel CPU Hardware Vulnerability Found

Computer Base also has some Windows tests done using a Win10 Insider Preview which has the fix enabled. Full article here in German, charts below. Graphics card used for AC: Origins was a GTX 1080 Ti. Performance loss is only marginal in most cases, M.2 SSD performance does take quite a hit...

Major Intel CPU Hardware Vulnerability Found

Have you read the offical statement from Intel yet? I am not sure what to make of it, this is probably the most interesting part:

Intel Secretly Firefighting a Major CPU Bug Affecting Datacenters?

The german website Computer Base just posted some benchmarks including Assassin's Creed: Origins which is said to be quite CPU hungry because of it's "interesting" copy protection. They are using the latest Win10 Insider build which has the fix enabled. The test system consists of an i7-7700K...

AMD Slips in Radeon HD 6770 and HD 6750 for OEMs

Yes, a die-shrink with a better efficiency truly would have been nice, maybe even a switch to the newer vilw4-stream processors. AMD probably decided that the results are not worth the (financial) effort.

AMD Slips in Radeon HD 6770 and HD 6750 for OEMs

AMD had decided on this move several months ago (there had been 2 or 3 news concerning that topic) and I actually think they made the right decision in rebranding the 57xx-series. By doing so the consumers will, in the end, have a full range of 6xxx-series cards to choose from, once the...
