I would go for i7 920 if you have a micro center nearby. It costs 200 usd. If you dont or dont have a lot of cash, go for i7 860. If you do have a lot of money, go for xeon w3520

the better the cpu, the better the scores, up to a point. The cpu pushes your card to an extent. You don't need i7 for your card, but you would ceirtanly get better scores with it.

link to chart Performance drops by almost 20 fps at that resolution. If you want to play at that res, you will need a better performing gpu.

your new card would run faster then this one, but you would get a lot better results with a better cpu, on both cards. So it might be a better idea to just upgrade the cpu
