How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

With two cards right next to each other, I usually see about 9-10c higher temps for the upper card... With a slot or two between the cards they are usually closer in temps...

How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

In other words, uninstall SLIPatch, make sure Hydra is uninstalled (ie, no video drivers at all), reinstall the cards from scratch together and you should have SLI available without SLIPatch.

How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

Well, I just wanted to say Thanks to Atnatolymik for all the great work in doing the SLIPatch. I am moving on, having pulled the dual GTX280 setup out of my sons Crosshair III Formula setup in lieu of a more AMD-friendly 4870x2 card (which I will probably crossfire with another in a year or...

How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

Re: 260.98 WHQL Released drivers, I installed them in my Asus Crosshair III Formula with dual GTX280s in SLI, already running the new 0.9b and install went flawless as well as 3 hours of solid gaming with no crashes. I played SC2, AvP, Crysis and Sacred 2, all without issue.

How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

Here is the thing you have to remember, the SLI-Bridge is NOT a "optional" part of a SLI rig. So, yes you *NEED* the SLI bridge for top performance. Some people say they get satisfactory performance without a SLI bridge, but I have done my own testing on an nVidia 780a motherboard and it...

How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

anatolymik, don't take it wrong when I said there was a problem and the hack was incomplete. I understand in theory how the hack works. It makes the system appear to be one of the 'authorized' SLI-capable systems out there on a system level so the drivers install and run with the SLI option...

How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

Ok, a little more feedback after running some games... Sacred 2 works fine, as does all settings on 3dMark Vantage except for Extreme, as it has the 'tarp' issue I mentioned along with stutters and pauses/jumping (ie it is not smooth)... I will stress again the scores are a bit higher with...

How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

Mashuga, you have a 790FX, and are running 195 drivers, so any problems in games? Run 3dMark Vantage in Extreme? Very interested if you are running into the same things I am under that config. Maybe it is something with the Asus Crosshair III Formula 790FX motherboard. If oyu have...

How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

And to clarify, the SLI installation/enabling part of the hack may be compelte, and you are correct that the hack you insitituted wouldn't be the cause of poor/invalid performance. Just saying the hack is not complete, at least on AMD chipsets, that is all.

How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

Actually, having been a hacker myself, you can't really say that. That is like cracking a new game, but missing an extra check inside the game that makes part of the game be screwed up. It is all part of the protection scheme they instituted. You did a great job making the system forgery...

How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

ok, reinstalled the 191 drivers, everything runs smooth and perfect in SLI. Reinstalled the 195s and again jerky performance and visual problems. One of the consistent ones is the tarp covering the flying boat in the opening scene of 3dmark Vantage. The tarp flickers like they have 2...

How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

Well, we have a winner with 0.42 at least with the install of 195 drivers. I am also able to enable SLI. It only took me over 45 minutes to hack through the registry and inf files to clear out the botched 195 install. The episode also removed all references to the WDDM 1.1 driver so with...

How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

195 drivers won't even install on the normal Win7 boot config. I had to reinstall 191. Reboot. Then tried to install 195 again and same thing it aborts the installation. I will undo the SLIPatch in a little bit and see if it will install the 195s then.

How To: Enable SLI on pre-i7/i5 hardware

OK, under 0.4 I installed the patch, then booted into normal Win7, installed 191 drivers, rebooted into SLIEnabled Win7, enabled SLI no problems. Rebooted, went into SLIEnabled Win7, installed 195 drivers, it BSOD: STOP: 0x000000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFF80003031009...
