I am upgrading and i am wondering, what is faster, better. is it the MSI 9800 pro with the 360 core or the XFX GeForce 6800 AGP? thanks for your help

i have the red pcb on my msi98oo td-sp it has the hynix ram chips 2.8 and 360 core, so ofcourse i modded it to an xt, however when i modded it i was a bit weary of the cooling that came stock so i edited the xt bios that i used for the flash with Rabit and gave the xt bios the pro speeds...

the power supply looks fine, it is bigger than mine if you do indeed have the 350 core then flashing the bios will be useless, however i might try the set-up without the soundcard. i have a 9800 pro that i flashed and without the xt clock speed, i havent noticed much difference but then again...

i wonder what you have for a power supply? you mentioned somthing about your ram, could that be making problems?

first off, you have listed the 128 interface version of the 9800, this card is not moddable as far as i know however you could try to overclock it here are some things that you should look into first; 1. do you really have the 128 interface 2. get ati tool and see if you card will be a good...

i just did a test with 3 bios files 2 pro and 1 xt, RaBit read all the bioses correctly, whatcha think

thats just it, i took off the sink and fan and it is a 360, ati tool says 350 and that is a reading from the bios, but the bios says 360 when i open it for editing with RaBit

first i dumped my videocard bios with atitool, then i opened it with rabit from 3d guru. it told me what core i had on my card, without removing my heatsink and fan.

did you just get the card or did you get it recently. are you changing from an nvidia card to an ati card? you might want to try the driver cleaner (sorry i dont have a link) and reinstall the drivers. if you are going from nvidia to an ati card you might want to back up all your data and start...

I have heard that when the frames per second go below a certain point the gpu will change the quality of graphics untill the frames per second go back up, er somthing like that kinda makes sence when you think of it

what card is it? is it clock locked?

this may be a longshot but is there a power consumption issue?

to monitor temps, if you are curious quickly turn off your machine and reach in and touch the card, if you cant hold your finger on the sink or backside then it is prolly too hot. i think thast the vpu will kick in if the card starts to overheat, but i am not sure again Good Luck
