cpu set to default voltage of 1.15V. According to Realtemp idle core temp now 46C.

But remember the cpu is currently undervolted to 1V. I'll set the voltage up and see what it gives.

The previous temps I measured were with everest. My bios also gives similar readings. I'm running a xfx 780i 3-way sli motherboard. could it be that there wrong?

I'm just worried because I heard these new cpu's are supposed to be cooler than the 65nm

what kind of game performance gain can you see? I own a xfx 8600gt and would like to tryout the less risky stuff, hehe, like only software oc'ing, but first i would like to know whether you can see a real improvement. maybe you can post different 3dmark scores on different setting? great work!!

I know there are plenty voltmods availible for other manufactures 8600gt's, but none (what i've seen) thats for the xfx one

ok thanks allot ppl! wil try out Prime 95, ty allot! the thing is that i dunno how high i can go with my CPU, so setting it in the BIOS means me not knowing how high it can still go, or how far i have set it past its max stable value.
