    Fedora 7, NVidia & GCC

Are you trying to compile them? If so you will need compiling packages, i dont know the names for your distro. If i were you i would just grab the precompiled binary if that is possible for your distro.

    Drivers & Ubuntu 7.10

Ubuntu is terrible Kubuntu is fantastic in my opinion, Easy to use, debian package managment, KDE, big support base Also to fix all of that mp3 + dvd rubbish one command is needed: sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras While i do agree their only FOSS is a bit lame but otherwise its...

E4400 Overclocking Help, Stuck at 3ghz with fluctuating voltages

im sure the ram can do 1066 stable since i ran it at that while playing games at a lower clockspeed 2ghz. Could it be that the specific divider or strap ( someone exlpain strapping to me plz!!!) is unstable?? Anyway 8*388 with a fan blowing on the NB heatsink, 1.4v idle 1.38 load , ram to fsb...

E4400 Overclocking Help, Stuck at 3ghz with fluctuating voltages

I dont touch 60. Anyway ive found out my large issue. 388*8, 1.425 (1.4idle 1.38load effectively) vcore, vdimm 2.1v ram at 998 and +.1fsb +.1mch ran fine. After a four hour orthos fest i decided to play some CSS. Anyway an hour in it crashed hard locking the system I went back to bios and...

    Linux for a noob

I dont really like how Redhat and Debian use a stable old kernel for ages then upgrade it to the latest, so maybe no to Fedora. I downloaded suse and ill give that a go, i like the integration of openoffice and i want to see how bad the package managment truly is :P

E4400 Overclocking Help, Stuck at 3ghz with fluctuating voltages

389*8 was NOT stable with +.1v FSB +.1MCH and 1.4vcore (1.38/6 ide 1.34/6 load). What should i increase to boost this up? or is the FSB not that much of a performance booster ( i was told the chips get bottlenecked by it in some cases) Also the Vdroop mod made the drooping much worse :(

    Linux for a noob

Im still deciding as to which Distro i should load to dual boot. Always been a Kubuntu fan but started to think i might change (Introduction of Dolphin shocks me!!!, not suprised as ubuntu is a gnome project :P). Anyway im after a KDE enviroment that looks as good as Vista ( i shall explain...

E4400 Overclocking Help, Stuck at 3ghz with fluctuating voltages

Hrm... I dont really wanna remove the IHS as of yet :P If i bought a better cooler would that eliminate the need to remove the IHS? Anyway im now moving towards a higher FSB. So far its stable at 389*8 for ~3.1ghz, if i wanted to reach 443*7 or 517*6 ( i understand the last one WONT happen no...

    Gigabyte P35-DS3R mosfit cooling

Do the ram sinks actually help cool much? I remember from the old days where VGA cards didnt have them on the ram, applying them didnt do much. I know this is a oranges versus apples thing but still... Also what are the benifits of better cooled mosfets?

E4400 Overclocking Help, Stuck at 3ghz with fluctuating voltages

Going to do the Vdroop mod tomorrow in the day. With the psu, the bloke at MSY (not renowned for its service) told me 430w was not enough for my system and that i needed 550w min. Instead of arguing i just went ahead and bought a 650w Trio :) So should be smooth sailing from now on. What...

E4400 Overclocking Help, Stuck at 3ghz with fluctuating voltages

Isnt 1.5v a bit bad for it? i got told 1.45 was the most you would want to 24/7. After i fix vdroop im going to work on the fsb, what do i need to increase to get to 420? Also what is a #2 pencil? I have 2H and 2B here :P
