AMD Radeon RX 480 8 GB

Couldn't agree more. If it fits in a pci-e slot it should meet Pci-sig. Maybe they should title it Rx480 founders. You could pay $100 extra for smoke and flames. Just playin, really don't think it would blow up a board of reasonable quality. However AMD is in the budget consumer sector of...

AMD Radeon RX 480 8 GB

Why is everyone upset about the power draw of an amd card? No brainer... Cooks eggs too. Still buying one once I see it on a real shelf.

    HDD PCB Replacement

The drive characteisistics are stored in the config chip(bios). If it is that important try to fix or freeze the OEM boards to get your data back. The very first sectors store the config and bad sectors. I would consider the data lost. Not a recovery guy,so I would low level format and see...

AMD Radeon RX 480 8 GB

Great point. When you oc, you draw More power. They wanted to be on the cutting edge, or in line with the 1060. Not a great accomplishment for AMD but I'm sure my MSI board will handle it if I plug in the pciE connector by the cards. I don't see this as a big deal except on cheap mb's. They...

AMD Radeon RX 480 8 GB

this is still a product of overclocking. you push it it burns. Basic electronics. I am an nvidia fanboy, I will be buying one of the RX480's for the $$ to performance ratio. if you want to oc it will pull more power. your m board needs to be of good quality. if it is not gold plated it may...

AMD Radeon RX 480 8 GB

If you check the pinout for the card edge connector you can see that 5 pins are allocated to the +12V rail. This rail is sourced by the ATX header and any Auxillary pcie plugs that apply power closer to the pcie bus for sli, xfire. The original molex standard states 1.1A per adjacent pin...

    CoolerMaster Nepton 280L Pump Teardown

I looked all over the web to mod and review this thing. Looks like nobody took the sledgehammer to it. No, a Tri-wing bit works on those funky triangle screws.

    CoolerMaster Nepton 280L Pump Teardown

Looked all over for the internals. Couldn't find any on the web. Bought one, it leaked and took it apart. Here you are! Forgive the horrible picture quality, I have a really crappy phone.

Theoretical waterproofing and cooling a PC

Fully immersed cooling wouldn't be very practical. Although, computer guts in a fish tank with live fish.... Any takers?? Might be cool on an older rig where you can conformal coat the board and silicone up the slots and ports. Also oil can be a better thermal conductor, but there is the...

Issues with 7970 xfire and a single 7850 and 7950

I would try booting in safe mode and cleaning out the drivers. Sometimes inactive drivers (phantom devices) will screw things up and not show up in normal mode.

    PC won’t boot?, interesting …

make sure the pch (The big chip on the MB) has the heat sink seated properly. Else, replace the motherboard.

Home Theater Projector w/ DIY Screen

Nice, always wanted something extreme like that. What do you plan on using for the white screen? Not familliar with this "BOC" stuff.

    hd 4850 problem

A perfectly good card just sitting on your desk... gotta be torture lol. You could install it and just run it as a secondary card. If you have no 2nd monitor and no xfire bridge, I see no reason to put it back in. It will use some power, not much if you disable it in device manager. Usually...
