The Register makes a solid list of reasons to upgrade to Windows Vista

Well, thanks for the info, but I don't remember having said that I didn't know ;)

The Register makes a solid list of reasons to upgrade to Windows Vista

I have actually nothing to say against the XP FW. My comment was the answer on whether I needed one and I don't. Hardware FW (router) FTW.

The Register makes a solid list of reasons to upgrade to Windows Vista

Let's see and go through these "arguments" one by one... Yes, annoying to the point that it gets switched off. Granted, it's not really MS' problem that application programmers can't seem to makew their software run under a non-Admin account. Or maybe it is had they enforced it earlier so it...

    Yahoo! Offers Unlimited Email Storage

Yeah, all these huge inboxes are completely useless when you cannot even send an email that's larger than 10MB. I have yet to find a free email service to allow this. It's a shame, really, how else are you supposed to send stuff to people when you can't currently reach them (IM for instance)...

One reason to come to the CeBIT: GeCube shows R600

My hometown! =) I'll see whether I can get a tocket for cheap, heh. (worked the previous years...)

    Asetek's new GPU watercooler pictured

True, however, it makes you wonder why the WC element does not cover those parts, too. Of course, however, that is one central component versus a lot of smaller ones on each of your HW pieces. That way you can design the fan to be bigger, and, as you said, more silent. While the "GPU" fan...

    Asetek's new GPU watercooler pictured

It is watercooled AND features an air fan? How incredibly ingenious... I thought the whole point of WC was to get rid of (active) air cooling on the components?

Seagate Confirms 1TB Hard Disk Drive

The performance gain is unparalleled. The security loss isn't that big at all compared to RAID-1. Let's face it, the only thing RAID-1 protects you against is HDD failure. I haven't had one of my HDDs die on me since I'm properly active-cooling them. In any case, a RAID-1 halves your...

    Prey Being Released On Steam

That seems a bit strange because I know I could when I was w/o inet on my laptop. All you have to do is make sure you account data is saved on your PC (which is a bad idea for any public PC, but then again most internet cafés do have inet access...) and you started the game once while connected...

GECUBE Releases Radeon 1950PRO AGP, HDCP Edition Video Card

Hah, I'm in the same boat as you =) Now it has become really tempting to postpone the move to PCIe again :p

ATI Releases New Windows Vista Drivers

Those released some time ago were only for RC1, they wouldn't install on RC2 (tried myself). According to ATi, the drivers included in RC2 where already newer than those RC1 you could download from their site.

Creative Introduces Xmod - the First External Device that Improves Music Playback Quality

That would imply you actually did listen to the high-quality studio recordings (before they were mastered to CD) in order to be able to compare. While I'm not denying the fact that it may sound better, it's just that, to you it sounds better. It's all about subjective perception. If you are...

Sapphire Announces Two AGP Video Cards

So just because you can't see any use in them there shouldn't be AGP cards anymore? Wow, I'm impressed.

Sapphire Announces Two AGP Video Cards

You find me a PCIe mobo I can fit all the rest of my hardware on and it's a deal. As long as that's not an option, I am happy for every AGP card stil beaing released. The mobo is the central hardware of your system, you don't just upgrade that on-the-fly and just because... If I were to...
