Radeon RX 6700, 6700 XT & 6750 XT users club

No one asked for this, but here are my Fire Strike results under Linux. Time Spy is a no go unfortunately. DX12 support is still incomplete. Radeon 6700 (see CoreCtrl screenshot for settings) and Ryzen 1700 @ 3.8 Ghz.

Max memory upgrade for Asus B350-F "ROG Strix Gaming" motherboard

I recently upgraded my old B350-F with a shiny new Ryzen 5700G. It was a major leap forward for my system. But there's more work to be done... I'm experimenting with running VMware ESXi 8.0.2 and running a Windows gaming VM (along with other VMs for other purposes.) The 5700G can keep up with...

Clock and voltage control on the Nvidia MX150 + HP Spectre X360 (2018?)

I recently acquired an older HP Spectre X360 (2018 vintage I believe, but HP has so many SKUs it's hard to be sure.) What I do know is that it has an MX150 for a GPU. Since this is basically equivalent to a (cut-down?) 1030, I was hoping I could coax a little more performance out of it. In the...

Realtek Modded Audio Driver for Windows 10/11 - Only for HDAUDIO

@jmnielsen7 Yes, not much explanation here. I have seen posts that seem to indicate that people with my audio chipset [S1220A] have installed this driver, but it just doesn't work for me. Well, headphone jack detection works, but that's kind of useless if the headphones don't get any audio. In...

LG 34UM95P Ultrawide monitor side-by-side weirdness

The principal device I want to do this with is a very locked down work laptop, so I can't install drivers ... or anything really. And I'd also like to use this monitor with Linux. Any other suggestions?

LG 34UM95P Ultrawide monitor side-by-side weirdness

I recently picked up an LG 34UM95P (used). One of the main attractions (not the only one) was the ability to work in side by side mode with two different inputs. Yet when I try to do this, the monitor presents itself as two 3440x1440 displays rather than two 1720x1440 displays. The effect is two...

Downgrade B350 bios to get PCIe v4?

Yeah the 6400/6500 are particularly miserly with only 4 PCIe lanes. Which seems dumb to me, since the target market is probably people with older CPUs/boards trying to get a cheap GPU. A quick and dirty survey of Google seems to indicate about a 15% performance hit using four PCIe Gen 3.0 lanes...

Downgrade B350 bios to get PCIe v4?

You could look at it in one of two ways. 1) AMD decided to disable this to protect consumers from data corruption and crashes. -OR- 2) AMD disabled the feature to force consumers to purchase new hardware. Probably both are true to some extent.

Downgrade B350 bios to get PCIe v4?

If you have a PCIe 4 GPU, GPU-Z will tell you more accurately. An earlier version showed that I had a rev 4 PCIe bus, and a Gen 4 GPU. The most current release showed a PCIe Gen3 bus with a Gen4 GPU :(

Downgrade B350 bios to get PCIe v4?

I have a fairly ancient Asus ROG Strix B350-F Gaming mobo. There was a brief period where 1st gen AM4 motherboard OEMs provided beta BIOSes with PCIe gen 4 support. And when I look at the BIOS download page for my Asus board, I do see some bios versions that mention "removing Gen 4 support for...

    Dell Workstation Owners Club

@lexluthermiester As far as I know, this is the only NVMe device (and it's 512GB sibling) that can successfully boot on a BIOS system. And that knowledge comes third hand. Obviously these prices are rather steep. If you know of any others, especially ones at reasonable prices, I'd love to hear...

Intel and Dell beg to differ. https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/ssdc/hpssd/sb/nvme_boot_guide_332098001us.pdf#%5B%7B%22num%22%3A29%2C%22gen%22%3A0%7D%2C%7B%22name%22%3A%22XYZ%22%7D%2C20%2C632%2C0%5D From the above...

So if we're talking about the Tx500 Dell Precision series, an NVMe drive will almost certainly not boot. NVMe booting requires UEFI firmware, which machines this old just don't have. This applies to Linux and Windows. I've tried and gotten nowhere. That said, it should still be able to function...

I once got a T5400 to OC with SetFSB, but could not replicate that success with a T5500. I may have had the wrong clock chip, or some other parameter configured incorrectly. What is OCN, and do you have a direct link for the posting?

    Dell Workstation Owners Club

Ah, but registered DIMMs *do* work in a T5500. So upgrading to stupid amounts of RAM in the T5500 is much cheaper than a T3500. Of course, it is much harder (impossible?) to overclock a T5500...
