I used to have an app that let you hover the mouse over a folder and you will see the contents display in a pop up area.. similar to the right click context feature. You could then choose a shortcut from that to open - all without ever opening the folder itself.
I cant for the life of me find...
Yep it's dead.
" What initially started out as a compromise has lead to an internal disagreement to the sites operation. There are many rumors floating around and even news articles, though I cannot say many are even close to the truth and it is far more complicated than what it seems...
I agree. With your laptop : Pentium M 1.6 Ghz | 1GB DDR | Intel Extreme 2 | 15" TFT | 60GB | WinXP, you can get more done with server side apps these days than you could with local apps alone. Heck run Linux on that system and boost your productivity that much more - well at least make better...
I'll turn that around on you.
In what ways do we have cloud services that through a browser allows you to run applications with faster CPU speeds/power than you already have on your computer?
Seems to me anything done through a browser will be limited in some ways as opposed to having the...
I understand the need to use an online service. I think the issue is more is the idea behind "a cloud" a mere marketing gimmick or is it something more substantial. I still see nothing that makes "cloud computing" something new or worth a fancy catch phrase.
Everything that you guys mentioned...
O.k. a website and domain name for a small business I can understand, but to me this does not constitute use of "A cloud" the way the term is being bounced around today.
As in the Microsoft commercials the term is used as the new hot place for all non tech people to go to for all of their tech...
Frick, what makes you think these servers are so called secure - just because people call them secure servers? I don't know about this.. you never hear about Johnny's Pc getting hacked, always servers.
I don't use banks. I pay cash for everything. I have bought houses, cars and boats as well as...
I am very active on the net I just don't do computer related business on the net or run in the circles of people who use such terms.
The more server side apps that contain more information there are it seems to me the more serious risk of identity theft thus this cloud is a bad thing indeed...
I had never heard the term referring to the internet as "The Cloud' till Microsoft came out with the new tv commercials. What Microsoft has to do with it, I still don't know. In general I understand "cloud computing" is a way of using internet software as services.
We have been doing this since...
Thanks..
I tried the guide and other tips and nothing worked.. In the end it was Comodo Internet Suite that was causing the problem. I uninstalled this crappy software and Poof I had access to all permissions again.
I have a file i need to run on Windows 7 Home Premium. I get the error message saying "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
So I right click and choose Properties to access the permissions but I cannot. In...
Thanks. I did forget those. I should have included them because I included Forums, but they don't really meet my criteria. ( thus perhaps I should remove forums from my list) If you just use a normal browser to connect they really don't belong. I am more interested in client based forms of...
I am researching different types of ways people use the internet to communicate. I need other ideas.
So far my list includes:
AIM/Yahoo messenger/skype type programs
E-mail
Forums
IRC (Internet relay Chat)
SecondLife and OpenSim
BBS's (Bulletin Board Systems) via Telenet
MOO's and Muds...
I will look into UNetbootin. I have looked and looked for a windows xp live cd and cannot find any. There are ways to do it but all seem very complicated and some may be outdated. I would not know which method to try - But a windows xp would be my choice of systems to do this with.
OS X ? Isn't...
