AMD Motherboard Vendors Are Removing Support for Older CPU Models

Those are two different scenarios intel: people can't upgrade CPU without a new MB AMD: people may not be able to upgrade MB without a new CPU The difference is that people routinely seek to upgrade CPU for better performance but few people upgrade MBs as most MB improvments can be achieved with...

Intel Warned China of Meltdown and Spectre Before the US Government

Did Intel warn Lenova or Alibaba before other US tech giants? If no, I don't understand what's the problem here. Isn't this a standard practice that warn your close partners first and then roll out the disclosure to general public or government or (insert whatever here)?

NVIDIA GeForce 390.65 Driver with Spectre Fix Benchmarked in 21 Games

NVIDIA is patching for their GPUs not CPUs made by other vendors. NVIDIA does market GPGPU capability of their products so technically sensitive information may be stored in GPU cache; I guess it's just NVIDIA wants to show their attitude towards market, actual possibility of being targeted...

Intel Released "Coffee Lake" Knowing it Was Vulnerable to Spectre and Meltdown

The fact that Meltdown can be easily patched by software update actually makes it more unacceptable to me. The logic behind the fix is simple enough and shouldn't be ignored to new generation of CPU release. To me it sounds like intel chosed to quickly push out competitive products (with an...

Dear Intel, If a Glaring Exploit Affects Intel CPUs and Not AMD, It's a Flaw

I'm not familiar with industry but in my opinion fixing such a critical vulnerability all people in decision chain should have good understanding of how it works. And in fact Linus as head developer isn't happy with that patch either.

Dear Intel, If a Glaring Exploit Affects Intel CPUs and Not AMD, It's a Flaw

In earlier thread you replied to someone claimed AMD processors were also affected so the patch is required. Now it turns out you're wrong but the point stands, AMD doesn't need PITA patch.

Dear Intel, If a Glaring Exploit Affects Intel CPUs and Not AMD, It's a Flaw

Some ARM processors are also vulnerable to Meltdown Source:https://developer.arm.com/support/security-update The point is that AMD processors are apparently not vulnerable to Meltdown and the performance hitting PITA patch is for Meltdown not Spectre, so the conspiracy theory is still there...

AMD Will Fix Adrenalin Driver Game Incompatibility Issues After All

I read both articles and comment sections. Comments of previous article are debates as if AMD abandoned DX9 so I believe it's necessary to clarify.

Intel Secretly Firefighting a Major CPU Bug Affecting Datacenters?

To me it's a security vulnerability other than general bug, apparently no function feature is affected. I just assumed intel may be able to selectively patch for affected user case and leave other parts untouched but it turns out I'm wrong. That's a really big fuck up for all customers...

AMD Will Fix Adrenalin Driver Game Incompatibility Issues After All

Even it's not limited to SAGE, I'd still hold that same argument. If AMD is dropping support of DX9 (even a tiny subset of it), considering there're still hundreds of DX9 games being made and released every year, it should be an official statement to developers and general public other than a...

Intel Secretly Firefighting a Major CPU Bug Affecting Datacenters?

I believe the performance degrade only affects virtualization applications. I'm wrong.

AMD Will Fix Adrenalin Driver Game Incompatibility Issues After All

So this is not an incompatibility with DX9 but an incompatibility with specific game engine? I'd guess SAGE engine may have used some undefined behavior which changed after driver update. DX9 is still far from death and AMD shouldn't be that stupid to abandon DX9 as a whole.

AMD Unlikely to Fix DX9 Games Bugged by Adrenalin Driver

Are these issues tied to DX9? If not, the title may be misleading as it feels like AMD is giving up DX9 support.

Denuvo's Latest Version Resists Piracy's Attempts Entering 2018

You're assuming games are high quality and people will praise but in reality...... COUGH COUGH. In that case DRM may prevent a shit load of unexpected criticism. So yeah, Denuvo does make sense. /s

Sapphire Radeon RX 580 Nitro+ Limited Edition 8 GB

I think for gtx480 the heat issue is more concerning people, same for all GF110, Tahiti, Hawaii chips. If heat and noise were fine, I don't care there's a 200w power difference.
