I have the same error message with a new abit AB9 Pro (965 express chipset) & C2D e6600 under construction. I might beleive issues with ATI or Nvidia based motherboards, but even with their own chipset? I could not find this software on the Intel site. Could we be using out of date...

Along the lines of what was done with the 800 vivo / xtpe bios flash to enable 16 pipes? Completed sucessfully thanks to TPU btw - thanks! A few reports of 1950xt heat / artifact trouble (with sapphire) have sent me back to look at 1950pro cards, but they are only 12 pipes. Or does it matter?

Ask and ye shall receive! I see the front page news today has an anouncement for the Asus product. The remaining manufacturers (DFI, MSI, etc.) can't be far behind. Inventory is of course another story.

The ATI site lists 1/2 dozen or so models of motherboards from the usual manufacturers using socket AM2 & express 3200 chipsets, all slated to be out in June. None of the manufacturers seem to be aware that they are supposed to be making them since there are no references on their websites...

Correct. My stock X800 Pro did not have any ram heatsink plate on the back so it was clearly visible. Any large empty IC area on your back would be a bad sign.

Forgot to mention- All that vivo function AND modded to 16 pipes! Best $400 card I ever bought :)

Evilally is right, you must also flash the bios. My ATI X800 Pro (non - vivo according to package) did not have the etch cut on the GPU. It did have the rage theatre chip (vivo component). I flashed the ATI XT PE bios and unlocked 16 pipes. Added on an Arctic Silencer4 and have no trouble...
