    Quiet case!

I've added a 120mm fan to the side of my Centurion 5 - this helped a lot. The graphich card fans, during full load, are now only spinning at around 70-75% as opposed to 90-100% before. Still interested in a new case though, and I've become quite attracted to the Define XL. It's a beast, but the...

    Quiet case!

Indeed I would, but my case simply doesn't allow it, not without extensive modding. I think I'm more into the P183 now - it'll allow me to mount my H60 properly in push-pull configuration and put good fans in the front to let my graphics cards breathe. Does anyone know if it's possible to...

    Quiet case!

Too lazy to get pictures at the moment, might do that next week. :P Basically, there's an 80mm intake fan at the bottom of the front panel, in the lower drive rack. This is the only intake fan. Then there's the exhaust at the rear, which is also where I've got my H60 mounted. So, the exhaust...

    Quiet case!

If you take a look at my spec, you may conclude that it generates a lot of noise (mostly the graphics cards, though the H60 stock fan can get a bit breezy). My Centurion 5 case does very little to deal with this. For this reason, my plan is to get a quieter and more sensibly-designed...

    Crossfire woes!

Right, bit late, but here's an update on this: The AMD support rep said that while they do support my configuration, he would never ever recommend it. I gave him all my system details and he said they'll look into it. In the meantime I've gotten myself a second 5850 Extreme, so my problem's...

    Crossfire woes!

The cards are in the light brown slots, so slots 1 and 4. Already triple checked that they're in the right slots. :) Even if one of them was in an x8 or even x4 slot it wouldn't cause this. I did think of the PSU, but it should be fine. And Crysis runs fine, although with single-card...

    Crossfire woes!

Thanks. :) Will do more testing when I get home in an hour. Eagerly awaiting AMD's response as well! My girlfriend's in need of a new card, so it's no big loss either way - but it would be nice if it worked.

    Crossfire woes!

I've sent off an inquiry to AMD themselves to see what they have to say. At this point I'm fine if they don't support my configuration, but I will ask them to alter their compatibility charts accordingly if that's the case. I might just get another HD5850 Extreme and stick the 5830 in my...

    Crossfire woes!

That exact picture says that they do work together, 5850 and 5830 are marked with a yellow square which means that they'll work if one uses a Crossfire bridge.

    Crossfire woes!

Which brings me to an issue that'll probably get its own thread sometime soon - my 555 unlocked to a quad just fine on a cheap M4A88TD-M but it freezes in idle on my new Sabertooth board. Figure that. :P Still, I don't think it should bottleneck that when running scenarios in which the GPUs to...

    Crossfire woes!

Yep, both of them work fine on their own. Worth noting is that when running Furmark, both cards run and get hotter. Framerate still seems to be the same as a single card though. Why would I not see much of a performance gain? Crossfire is engineered to be much more flexible with...

    Crossfire woes!

The 5850 is in the top slot. I haven't tried switching them around yet. I'm aware this is hardly the most common of Crossfire setups, but according to this it's fine. I was thinking the bridge might be faulty, but seeing as the Diagnostics section in CCC doesn't report anything, I dunno.

    Crossfire woes!

Firstly, hello again. It's been almost five years since I was last active 'round these parts. :) Secondly, my issue: I can't get Crossfire working right. I've got 11.6 with its CAP1 installed. Both cards are detected, Crossfire is enabled in CCC and all that. However... When I run any...

    Doesn't find all RAM!

I'll do some checking in the BIOS when I get home and see what speed the RAM is. If the original 1GB stick was a 667, the one that was added in later most likely is as well. I have no idea if the onboard is active or not as none of these upgrades were carried out by me personally, I'll...

    Doesn't find all RAM!

Alright, the BIOS has been updated but the problem persists. Suggestions?
