Better cooling doesn't guarantee a better overclock, but I'd say that it would be likely in your case. Arctic Cooling VGA Silencers are a good place to start...

what 9800 pro's still ship with an xt core

I just bought another Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro Atlantis 128MB from Newegg and it's the 3rd one (out of 3) that I've gotten with an R360 core. This one hits 446/370 with a Zalman ZM80D-HP when flashed to XT.

wanted: Find Max Core + Find Max Mem feature

I'd really like to see a feature that would allow one to run Find Max Core for an arbitrary amount of time and then automatically run Find Max Mem afterwards for the same amount of time. Being able to run both without intervention would be rad.

BBA 9800 XT no overclocking. and high heat

The VGA Silencer rev. 3 is not compatible with the 9800XT. However, the ATI Silencer 3 is compatible with the 9800XT.

    Can I damage my 9800SE

There is no way to overheat your GPU by clicking on Find Max Core. The test will not stop until you stop it. When the GPU starts to overheat, ATITool will automatically adjust the clock speed so that it stops overheating. With better cooling the frequency will probably go higher.

BBA 9800 XT no overclocking. and high heat

Get yourself a good solvent like carburetor cleaner, acetone, or tape head cleaner and a razor blade. The solvent will disolve the adhesive on the thermal tape. Gentle scraping with a razor or the like should remove the tape easily after that.

    Don't understand T°C with radeon 9800 pro

Actually, what I meant by "how well is your case coooled" is how well ventilated your computer case is. How many fans do you have in your case. Where are they located? How powerful are they? What kind of case do you have?

    Radeon 9700 Pro

Depends on the GPU. For example... I wouldn't feel comfortable going past 90C, regardless of how the above scales to the R300/350 cores

    Don't understand T°C with radeon 9800 pro

It's within normal temp ranges. How well is your case cooled? For higher overclocks, I suggest investing in better than stock cooling. I use the Zalman ZM80D-HP for my 9800 pro.

    Can I damage my 9800SE

It is not possible to damage your card using Find Max Core or Find Max Mem. ATITool works by increasing clock speed until artifacts are detected. Artifacts are pixels that are rendered incorrectly as a result of instability in the core or in memory (usually caused by heat). Once artifacts are...

    Temperatures

Just use ATITool's Find Max Core and Find Max Mem - when things get too hot, artifacts will start to show up. ATITool will detect these artifacts and adjust your clock speeds to optimal stable speeds. ATITool does all of the dirty work - it's as automated as overclocking can get. That said, I'd...
