This thread convinced me to buy the Radeon 3870 card. Just installed it so this is out of the box performance. I'm new to benchmarking so please let me know if I've set a parameter wrong and should resubmit.
I do have two NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT cards, but as you know they were made for AMD boards and so the distance between the two when installed does not allow for the SLI bridge to be used between them.
No SLI bridge was provided.
Lets say I go with a single card instead of x-fire, would the performance suffer much.
The price of two 3870 cards would run about $500, is there a single card that would offer comparable performance for a similar price...one great card instead of two good cards in...
Glad you chimed in Urbklr911, I've only got a 3 pci-e power cable available and would, quite frankly, like to use two of them to power other devices.
It's beginning to look like I need to go with the 38xx series cards.
Thanks Duffman.
So an HIS Hightech 2900GT like shown in the link below would be a good choice?

What would be the choices for the ATI 38xx cards?
Just built a new system and didn't realize I'd selected a motherboard that wasn't SLI ready..stupid me:banghead: so I can't use my old cards (together) in the new system.
What would you folks recommend I get?
My current configuration is as follows:
Intel Core 2 Quad processor
Abit IP35 Pro...
