    ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb

You might be getting a bug with ATITool and artifact detection. Try using version .21 and see if that makes a difference. If that doesn't work, run the tests with no heat-up phase. Go into settings/artifact scanning and set 'first phase has a length of' to 0. With no heat-up phase, you'll get...

    Cant get profiles working.

Make sure you have 'play sound when entering 3d mode' selected and select a .wav file to have it play. That will help with that problem sometimes. You might also try using different versions of ATITool. I've noticed that with older games, prior to DX9, that detection problems are the norm...

    ATITool 0.0.22 Bugs

I'm still getting an occaisional problem with installing, with the the atihooks.dll error message. It happened twice with .22 betas and then again with the .22 official. Each time I closed ATITool from the systray and selected the repair option while installing. I've taken to just uninstalling...

    ATi RADEON 9800pro 128Mb @ wrong clockspeed!?

Sapphire, Powercolor and maybe others were/are putting out cards that were misleadingly advertised as 9800 pros but had lower clock speeds and only a 128-bit memory bus. Did you by chance get one of these cards? Open ATITool and look under settings and see what it says for memory bus width.

    Artifact Scan

Since you're having problems in 3d games as well, it sounds like it's a heat issue. You don't have to have OCed to get artifacting if you have high case temps. How long have you had this card? I mean have you had this for a long time and it just started artifacting in games? Did you just buy...

    Stable Results

    1)Sapphire 9800 Pro 2)378/337.5 3)410.06/374.82 - I have one of the worst OCing 9800 cores in the world! 4)Athlon 2500 XP-Mobile @2519mhz(219x11.5) 5)Most recent .22 beta of ATITool 6)7200 7)Tested during the afternoon(86F room temp during testing) with 6x AA and 16x Trilinear AF...

    Log File Clean-Up

You can try it both ways and see how your results are. Generally, you'd just test with the core speed at default, but due to your individual card cooling, case temps and air flow around the card, you might get differing results if you test the mem with your core OCed.

    Log File Clean-Up

Those are pretty typical results for a 9800 Pro, probably a little lower than most reported results for the core and a little higher for the memory.

    "Snow-Artifacst" in Doom 3

I had the same problem with Doom 3. I had settings I'd tested stable with ATITool and been using for months with other games with no visible artifacts, such as Thief 3, where the generally dark background would have made them apparent. My solution was to manually set AA and AF before running...

Vantec Iceberq 4, Is It Good?

It's better than the stock cooling - Much better in your case because I believe they use a thermal pad on your R9500. But the heatsink is relatively small and doesn't have a particularly powerfull fan. But it is all copper which is a nice upgrade over the stock aluminum cooler. It should be more...

    Log File Clean-Up

BTW, I thought it might be because of Service Pack 2 - I was getting some other problems with it installed and I noticed the log file problem shortly after installing SP2 as well. So I system restored to before installation and that made no difference with the log file problem. I don't know if...

    Log File Clean-Up

Could it be due to the type of card or Catalyst version being used? I'm using a Sapphire 9800 Pro with the 4.9 beta. How about you bobo, W1z?

    Log File Clean-Up

W1zzard - I was testing out the new screesaver on/off feature and had the screensaver selected on at the time. I know you like to run it with the SS off, could that somehow make a difference in the logs?

    Measuring temperatures...

You could mount something like this- http://www.bestbyte.net/Product.cfm?ProductID=1165&CategoryID=8&Keyword= next to the core to measure the temp. I have one of these I've used with my CPU. It's not really necessary to do this though - Just use ATITool and scan for an hour or more with no...

    Log File Clean-Up

Yes, the .22 beta is where that's from. And that was just a short amount - I had just done a quick 15 min without artifact test with the .22 , and it ran several pages of that type of entry consecutively before the test finally ended.
