Scrub the zero fill as well - I was thinking about older SSDs such as the Kingston one in my laptop. It's nice to bounce ideas off people though :)

aha ! I think I have answered my own question. Yes - it would be faster transfering big files around in Raid 0, but day to day I probably won't notice a difference. In fact it will probably boot faster as I don't have to wait for the Raid to start.

Would one of these saturate SATA 2 ? I might get one of these instead of two F40s in Raid 0.

haha It's defo snappier in Windows. Boot up seems longer as I didn't have to wait for the RAID controller to warm up. I've no regrets at this stage !
