Cherry Launches Disinfectable Mouse and Keyboard Set for Hygiene-Sensitive Areas

20+ years ago I used to do desktop support for a very large government organization. As part of my job, I would vist hundreds of workstations a month. The grim encountered on some of the keyboards and phones has left me with a lifelong appreciation of just how “personal” (to put it nicely) these...

Microsoft DirectX Team to Introduce "DirectSR" at GDC 2024

Agreed. If upscalling worked on a 1050 ti, that’s something id get behind. But if I’m already spending close to a grand on a new card you can bet I’ll be running in native.

"Metro Awakening" VR Announced During State of Play Event

My guess is they are being highly subsidized by the VR companies and this isn’t to make money for the developers, but rather push sales for meta and alike.

Cooler Master Brings New PSUs to CES 2024, Including 2800 W X Might and and 1100 W X Silent Edge

To put that in perspective a standard 15amp, 120volt circuit maxs out at 1800watts. A 20 amp circuit maxes out at 2400 watts. 2800 watts is just insane… maybe they are preparing for the next mining run. Or home built AI clusters. Cuz enterprises aren’t buying Cooler Master.

ADATA Shows Prototype XPG HYBRID COOLER at CES 2024

I don’t get it. How is this any better than an air cooler? The benefit to aio is you can use larger/more fans and place them away from the heat source. Aio doesn’t magically reduce the temperature. This just adds complexity to the same space. The only possible benefit is the liquid would add...

LG's 2023 Smart Monitors are Powered by webOS

Yeah but isn’t why they have smart tvs? I mean the whole point of a monitor is you already have it hooked up to a computer which is going to be infinitesimally faster than some bloated, add-fest of a smart device OS that the monitor will have.

LG's 2023 Smart Monitors are Powered by webOS

Can’t think of a single consumer upside to a smart monitor… not one.

TechPowerUp Selects PNY as Graphics Card Provider for Review Test Systems

On a positive note, this has given me reason to once again consider PNY as a potential option (after writing them off for the past 20 years). last card I bought from them (around 2002) burnt up right after the warranty expired… left me salty for a long time. LOL

Microsoft Introduces Windows 11 Co-Pilot, the First Centralized AI Assistant on a PC Platform

Well friends, it’s been a wild ride… Really thought we were here to stay after making it through that little hiccup in dark ages, but I guess in the end our hubris was bound to win out.
