Ok. So Somebody smart *cough*my brother*cough* left a water bottle on the top of my computer. Well I was playing a rousing game of CS 1.6 with a friend and I got excited and jumped up when I killed everyone on his team, thereby knocking the water bottle over. The water went through the top vent of my computer. I didn't hear any noise, but instead my screen instantly froze and blazed colors. I quickly turned off the computer. Took everything out of the case after drying the areas I could see.

Well to make the story short, everything works fine, without the GFX card in (8800GTS) When I put that in, it refuses to boot. It starts up, and instantly turns off. I know I shorted it, but is there anything I can do? And anything I should be worried about that I wasn't able to dry...everything seems to be Ok. CPU, RAM, Mobo, Sound card, PSU...everything is working. I am currently using it to speak with you. I am using a FX5500 PCI for video...:( I am really gonna miss my 8800GTS. :banghead:

Yeah. I am like thanking a higher power right now. At first, I was freaking out...that is $1,500 in hardware...and I only lost $300 of it (when it was new). I was planning on going with a 4870 x2 for a while now, but I wasn't ready so soon. I just installed the drivers for the FX5500, so it will be fine for now...until I need to upgrade. No Hardcore gaming now though...But would there be any way for BFG to tell that it does have water damage...I can't see any water marks on it...Could i just say it shorted out on its own? It would be lying, but I don't have money right now.

Edit:
Maybe somone has an old PCI Express card lying around that is willing to part with it for VERY cheap? Or they want to give away and I'll pay shipping. =[

I would try sending it back to bfg, they have lifetime on their products and I don't think they will be able to tell what happened to the card.

If you have ever overclocked the voltage of the gpu then yes they more than likely will be able to tell, thats the only way as i know of, of when they can tell a card has (usually) been fried by overclocking.

So I just got off the phone with BFG Tech support. Helped me with everything. Even helped me send in my card for an RMA. BFG may be overpriced, but with what I have seen, this company is very true to their customers.

+1 to BFG.

well it wasn't me as such, my sister ex boyfriend thought he'd try hook it up to my oldish 28" tv so bare in mind it would need an S-video cable, but he tried using the HDMI cable into the TV by phono plugs, and its never worked ever since, not on any board i've tested it on :(. sadly, it was a nice little card, i got great overclocking out of it too :D
