I built a new PC not too long ago, and thanks to a bunch of the local guys here i got my rig built. But.. now i'm still having issues with this front Audio/mic plug problem. I've checked all the connections inside the case and out.. And it seems to just not like to recognize it from the front jacks. So my audio drivers constantly send me a pop up saying "You just plugged/unplugged" a device from the front audio inputs.

I know i can just use the back ones but the front make things a hell of a lot easier to deal with when gaming so id on't have to get up and move behind my case all the time to get stuff done.

It will usually tell you when you plug or unplug something by default, there should be a way to turn it off via your audio manager.

so it actually recognized the plugging in, but they dont function?

If so i had that issue with the 2 ends on the front pannel connector. One is HD audio and one is AC97. try swapping which one is plugged into the mobo header?!?!?!

Thats not the problem. The problem is it'll recognize, then not recognize, then recognize, then not recognize the connector. Meaning I will have mic some days working, then not at all. And the audio sometimes, randomly, starts to sound horrible.

I thought about doing that. I'll have to give it a try later on today.

make sure you have the right header, once is for hd audio and the other is for ac 97.. also make sure that the side with both of jacks goes on the motheboard and the side with the single jack goes into your case panel. also make sure its not your audio driver, as a corrupted driver or something may also be the issue.

I did a driver rollback/update. Didn't seem to help. The problem seems specific to the Mic jack. But now it seems to turn the recording on constantly when the mic is in..

Ok i turned off the IN line option for the mic jacks and that seemed to have worked.. It doesn't spaz out on me all the time now.. Now the only issue i have is some random sound file keeps playing every hour or two.. I'm running a virus scan now.. though i've scanned before and it never found anything.

If your using AIM it's prob that, turn AIM off and see if it still makes that sound.

i've seen that a bit. Just disable teh auto sensing feature in the drivers control panel. Onboard realtek HD audio has an icon that looks like a wrench, its in that.

Most cases have pretty poor quality connectors/joins for the front audio.

its most probably some software that you have installed. you can also try hijackthis and see if that finds anything.
