It could be an incompatibility beetween this motherboard and the RAM.

I ran into similar behaviour with an Lanparty X48-T3RS , a Q9450, and a pair of DDR3 PC16000 sticks: the parts were brand new, freshly assembled, but the pc would not boot, no matter what i 'd do.

turned out to be an early version of the bios which didn't cop with my DDR specs.

You can safely assume it's either the RAM or the cpu, and you've got to test both of them outside as soon as you can.

that can be that in my new board, but something happened in my old setup (p5k) that avoided it to post, so I asume that the board wasn´t the problem.

So I'll do that, get some cheap Ram and try it, im also going tomorrow to the store where I bought the CPU and try it on other system.

I'll keep you informed

Thanks a lot everyone!!

well, I have news, I tested the CPU on other system, and it was fine, they tried to test the RAM, but the system didn't post, I dont know if it was because of the Motherboard or because it's the RAM what is failing. (the board was an asus p5b)

Second thing, they tested my old board (p5k) and now it is working, so I'm 99% sure that the problem is my RAM, but how can it be possible that both sticks fail at the same moment??

So I'm going on monday to change my new board (maximus II formula) for another set of RAM

Any advice??

Thanks a lot, I think WE finally solved it!!

Rather thought it might be the ram, I was researching pc8500 4gig kits for myself, and saw reports of people rma'ing set after set of the dominator kits. Got mushkin ascents instead, very happy!

I would test some new ram in the board, possibly a different speed or brand. You might just have dead ram.

I have a good budget, as the Maximus II Formula costed me 200€, so I can afford almost any kit of DDR2 RAM, I'm going for 4 Gb, so if someone with the same board can tell me a good kit of 4 Gb, better if it's a 2 stick kit, and 1066 Mhz rather than 800

The only problem is that I need to buy it in the same shop as the motherboard, as they are going to give me a ticket for the shop, so this are the possibilities I have:

http://www.alternate.es/html/shop/p...ulos+de+memoria&Level2=DDR2&Level3=DDR2-1066&

It's in Spanish, but all the specifications are clearly shown.

After reading some things about the 1066 Ram . I think I'll better get 4 Gigs of 800 Mhz in 2 sticks, but I dont know wich ones to choose for my Motherboard (p5k premium), any suggestions between these options??

Of the 1066 4gig choices, I'd pick Geil or Buffalo, I don't think you'd have any problems with those two. Geil is usually very compatible ram with most motherboards, and I haven't heard anything bad about the buffalo firestix. I'd stay away from Ocz and Crucial ram as well. Asus motherboards are picky about ram. My Asus board hated the crucial ballistix I tried. Get the Geil kit, it'll work.

Im going to get this one tomorrow
Corsair DIMM 4 GB DDR2-800 DHX Kit http://www.alternate.es/html/product...l?artno=ICIE5J
as its in stock and i've read that it is compatible with my motherboard

One more thing about the problem, Corsair support is telling me that it is very very unlikely that both sticks die at the same time, that it should be other problem, are they right??
