Hi,

I got a used but more powerful than mine computer... but it doesn't work!
Darn.
I opened it up. It's Asus P5gdc-v
It's not a crap, newegg lists an open boxed one for at least $80 plus $6 shipping.

Anyway, I don't know what's the CPU but the power supply (350W ATXv2) seems to be working. When I power it on (no hdd no ram), two things happen:

-light on the board went on (even when power is off but psu is on)
-fan is turning (darn thing is so quiet I can't even hear it)

Problems are:
-no beeps (pc-speaker is attached to mobo)
-monitor says no signal (monitor attached to built-in video, don't have pci express card)

Went to a repair computer store and they say it's a dead mobo.
I'm not so sure.
If it is so, is the CPU alive? maybe the battery is dead?

I'm a novice in hardware, so please lend me a hand.

Thank you!

the built in video could be damaged, try a pci card, did you check if the speaker is well connected?

Tried a pci video card and still same symptomps. Video card fan is running but no beeps and no signal on monitor.

I don't know if the pc-speaker is well connected or not. It looks fine.

This may sound foolish, but you tried starting the computer up WITH ram, right?

Yes, I then added the original RAM back -- still nothing. Same stuff.

Could you try your other parts in another computer?

Can't. Nothing compatible.
Only hard disk from the computer is.. and I'm using it right now.

Anyone got a spare intel mobo :p? hehe.

BIOS may be damaged or the circuitry is fried somewhere. I've had similar problems in the past, and it's more convenient to just return it to wherever you bought it from.

I would go with the comp store tech, it does seem like a dead mobo. Probably the reason why it was returned, someone fried it. I say this, because, you've tried different things, it dont post, the LEDs on the board are lit up. Unless you are an experienced solderer and have some test equipment, not much you could do Im afraid.
