for some reason the vsync turns off when i enable crossfire...i run 2 x1800xl 512mb cards, which ati says that are not supported officially, but people are running xl 256mb succesfully...x1800gto is pretty much 4pipe locked xl...so somehow the drivers dont force vsync to work on both cards...anyone can help or tell me a program that i can try to force vsync with...i tried in games, in ccc nad ati tray tools and there is tearing all the time in all games :(

why do u need vsync?
it will keep the fps at a constant 60fps... u dont want that do u?
with those two cards u should be able to play full settings on most games and get well over 60 avg

true, but the i cant stand the tearing of the screen i am getting when the vsync is off...is there some other optimisation to reduce the tearing besides vsync?

Because when you have a LCD you need Vsync to stop the tearing. If you are overclocking the cards, run them stock. What resolution are you running? You could also crank up the AA and AF to help slow things down a bit.

no overclocking atm...it is just somehow impossible to get vsync to work when both cards are in any modes besides 8x-14x AA which then there is no improvement in speed, just visual quality...the vsync option works then...i will try to crank the aa and af all the way see if that changes things :)

then use 8x performance aa

try to volt mod it and do 800/900, after that u should see a HUGE performance jump, might even be in league with x1900xtx
