I was able to get 1GHz core with 1.40v, I can run GPUTool fine for 30min then it will say error detected so I bumped the vcore to 1.41v and GPUTool ran for 2 hours without errors, so should I keep the 1.40v which passed gputool stability tester for 30min or 1.41v which passed stability tester for 2h?

First off, what games do you play? WoW? If so you may be gaming for hours on end and it could cause problems if you drop the voltage. If you play UT3 then you may play for less time and not see any problems.

So basically what I'm saying is the card may start to error out after an extended amount of gameplay(1hr+). What I would be more concerned about is your temps, how hot is your core when you are at 1.4V? 80C? 90C? Under load of course.

77c gpu temp maxed with GPUTool

My brother mainly play CSS for longtime@1920x1080 all maxed 8xAA, 10 hours+ daily with 1.40v but I think this game is not heavy. Like I said with 1.40v GPUTool will run fine for 30min then it will detect error [1 dot], upping the voltage to 1.41v GPUTool run fine for 2 hours.

Temps look fine, but yeah CSS isn't that intensive so you should be fine at 1.41v. Just keep an eye on the temps :toast:

Benchmark Scores It does boot up? I think.
Source games are graphically so unintensive their minimum framerates are around 150FPS on a stock HD4890 so there's no reason for OC'ing the card. Underclocking would make more sense.

I looped Crysis benchmark 50 times @ 1.40v without problems, what do you guys think, gputool is more intensive?

It can be quite difficult to completely nail down an OC as "stable" with just one program. Different programs/games can stress a video card in different manners, as you've seen. It may be stable with one and not so stable with another.

Stress test the card with a number of games that you play. If one of them is Crysis, all the better. If it's stable in Crysis, then I'd say CSS should be fine also, being an older Source engine game.

Just running Furmark/OCCT/GPUTool all day isn't going to show how stable your card is, but rather how hot it can get.

So you think I better leave 1.40v and test my games even if gputool will still show error at 1.40v?

Yes, forget about GPUTool testing (unless you like staring at it as a "game").

If your games start acting funny at 1.4v, then go higher until stable, or lower your clocks.

Sure it'll take longer and isn't as easy to see, but you'll know whether or not it works properly in the programs you actually use...
